Windmills and Countryside tour / Award winning experience
AWARD WINNING Airbnb experience in the category “Expertise”!
A unique intimate all inclusive experience with insider access to the places we visit. We escape the big crowds!
Escape the busy city! A few miles outside Amsterdam lays the beautiful countryside of Holland. Visit the windmills, explore old towns, taste Gouda cheese and Dutch apple pie. This is an all inclusive small group tour. We travel with a luxurious Mini Bus to our destinations. We come at places where no tourbusses can come.
When the group is complete we drive north to the small historic fishermen village of Marken. Over there we have a short walk in the village where I explain some of the history.
In the harbor of Marken we will stop at a local Dutch cafe for coffee, tea and Dutch apple pie. A great time to get to know each other a bit more.
From Marken we drive to the wooden shoe and cheese farm. At the farm we will get a private tour how cheese and wooden shoes are made. You can try to walk on wooden shoes and taste all the different kinds of cheeses.
After the experience we drive to the traditional sawmill where they still saw wood as in the old days. The windmill shows the big industrial revolution in the 16th century.
Most of the time we will driving through countryside roads to our destinations. All admision, drinks and apple pie is included.
Cycling through Old Holland's countryside with windmills
You will set off in a small group by bike through Amsterdam's best-kept secret, the Westzijderveld. This area, with wet meadows that lie just above, or even below, the water table, is a paradise for meadow birds. A farm landscape with long ditches, pollard-willows and cows, turning mills and swaying reed beds is . An example of a truly typical Dutch landscape.
When you cycle over the dike, you feel the wind blowing and you look almost beyond the horizon, where the windmills are turning. You visit a working windmill, where you can experience the power of a windmill yourself. The miller will also be happy to answer your questions. This area is only accessible by bike, there are no groups of tourists here and it is therefore a unique experience.
Next, you will cycle through an authentic neighborhood with working-class houses. You will see with your own eyes how people used to live there and also pass the rich merchant houses with their beautiful decorations.
Finally you will visit the Zaanse Schans, where you will see how they make clogs and there is extensive opportunity to taste the Dutch cheese delicacy.
A great opportunity to experience the dutch landscape, history and culture.
During the tulip season 2022 (28/03 - 01/05), visit the blooming flower fields by bike:

Workshop Circular Mosaic
I organise upcycle mosaic workshops, where we work with recycled materials.
Ik geef workshops circulair mozaïek waarin we met gerecycled materiaal werken.
Besides regular tiles, we also use porcelain, ceramics and glass beads. During the 2.5 hour workshop you will make a beautiful piece of art. This could be for example a special mirror, an exciting tapas plate, or a couple of contemporary coasters. You choose materials of your favourite colour and you are guided through the process enthusiastically by Marné herself.
The studio is located in Utrecht-Oost, hidden in a fabulous flowery courtyard. Good accesible with public transport and cozy shops and restaurants nearby.
Het atelier ligt in Utrecht-Oost, in een verscholen prachtige bloemrijke binnenhof. Het is goed bereikbaar met het OV en nabij gezellige winkels en restaurantjes.

Afternoon Organic Dutch Cheese Tasting
Slight change: Marcel, the cheese shop owner, will run the tastings for the next couple of months... He usually has help in the shop, but he might have to step away from time to time to tend to a customer... But don't worry, you'll have wne and cheese!
(Plus, I always allowed time for the guests to chat amongst themselves, so the actual difference is very little). The rest is as in my original description below:
Let me tell you the story of the Dutch via their cheese.
Organic cheese that is.
During my afternoon cheese tasting you'll sample six organic Dutch cheeses, accompanied by other organic nibbles, and organic wine or beer. And a little bonus at the end of homemade Amsterdam chocolate.
The tasting takes place in a beautiful wine-and-cheese shop in the trendy and quiet Amsterdam Zuid district. It's just minutes from the touristy centre but with a much more peaceful vibe.
The tasting is for 10 people max and we all sit around a communal table, giving it a relaxed and social atmosphere. I'll put Dutch cheese into its historic and cultural contexts and explain about the individual cheeses themselves.
The tasting takes about 60 minutes, but the event runs longer as by the end people are usually chatting quite freely or asking me about local tips.

The original Light Art Festival Experience on Air BNB, with the largest nr of tickets sold on AirBnB worldwide!
For only a limited period of time (December and January), you can experience an amazing wonder of Light Art installations by boat. The artworks are specially designed for the Amsterdam Light Festival. During our experience you will see a big part of these artworks and installations.
Our beautiful and safe electric boats are cozy, exclusive and comfortable.
With a boat cover and large windows between warm blankets and comfy pillows, you have nothing to worry about. We will sail under, next and even over some of the artworks. We will cruise the east part of Amsterdam which is designated as the Festive area. The tour is appr. 70 min. where drinks and snacks are all inclusive.
The boats are open which will give you the true feeling of being one with the artworks, but can be closed as it can be very cold or rainy this time of year. Blankets are there to keep you comfy and we serve wine, beer, soft drinks, Gluhwein (mulled wine), tea and coffee to keep the inner you warm.
The only thing we need from our guests is to sit back, see art, enjoy each others company, share stories and meet other people from all over the world.
Doesn't that all sound GEZELLIG?
