Well I can give you more than 43 reasons why you should visit this city. A city with soul and an age-old history, Brussels has something to offer for everyone ! Since the laying down of its first foundation stone in 580, Europe has witnessed Brussels’ evolution to power at a lightning speed. It has been the capital of numerous territories – Burgundy, Brabant, the Netherlands, Belgium and now Europe. Today with 159 embassies and 2500 diplomats, Brussels is the world’s second seat of diplomatic relations. Its refined heritage has been coveted and prized by many. But how did this young city acquire such a prominent role so rapidly in Europe since the Middle Ages? Join me as I walk you through the history of this city and tell you stories about its past and its present. During our journey we will visit the most important historical sites of the city, many are part of Unesco’s World Heritage. As we walk through the historical center, I will also introduce you to Belgium’s renowned artisanal and trappist beers, its chocolate making culture and its love affair with waffles. Hungry Mary's Brussels Beer & Choco Tour
We will first stop by in various local artisans chocolate shops, where you will try amazing samples. Crunchy hazelnut, dark ganache, salted butter caramel, as well as ginger, tea, coffee, saffron or chili... Forget what you already know, because you’re going to be surprised! Unique to Brussels, the chocolatiers are always experimenting with new flavors, textures and cocoa bean types. The second part is a Belgian Beer tasting session that will take you to bars and taverns around Grand Place. It's a great way to discover small taverns and mix with locals. The places we go to are hidden small gems and are not easy to find at all. Like one of the oldest taverns in town or a small bar/puppet theatre. Brussels fashion photo walk
I have two possible starting points for my Fashion photo walk. You can start the tour from Grand Place and tour in the Dansaert fashion district or opt directly for cool fashion photo shoot in the beautiful botanical garden of Brussels, Le Botanique. You can also request to have the complete 2 hour tour from Grand Place until Le Botanique (just book the private tour option then) where you can experience all of the beautiful locations and get more time to shoot your fashion photos. You will get beautiful, must-have BXL photos to your instagram and lots of great memories from Brussels. Grand Place-Dansaert On our way in the centre we will pass comic strip murals where I give you explanations of the comics so you can get inspired of their world and characters. Street art works also as a nice backdrop for great fashion photos. We can always check some boutiques on the way or stop for a coffee (drinks are not included to the price) and enjoy the day. Le Botanique Botanical garden is all about feeling to be like a beautiful nymph or god and goddess in the middle of nature. If its raining I know also places we can go. I will take photos of you during the whole tour and send you high quality photos in some days after the tour via Wetransfer photo transfer service. You will experience Brussels like a model and I will be your local guide and personal photographer.
Tell Me Stories About Bruges Walking Tour
Prefer Spanish? https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/3925140 No boring old-fashioned history tour with a retired teacher but a walk through medieval Bruges with a passionate storyteller! We want you to get to know the highlights of both our history & heritage and everything there's to experience nowadays. You'll get to see the highlights you can't miss as well as some lesser-known spots. You'll be able to image how life was in the middle ages but we also load you up with recommendations for Bruges these days! Where to grab a delicious Belgian waffle. Which chocolate shops are the best for pralines. We'll share our restaurant recommendations based on your budget. And of course, we'll tell you where to get the finest Belgian beers (at a fair price). We'll cover about 3km. The tour is fully wheelchair and stroller accessible but do keep in mind that Bruges mainly has coble stone streets. This is a Free Walking Tour, which means you only pay a small online booking fee up front. At the end of the tour you can decide for yourself how much the experience is worth to you.
Brussels Walking and Tasting Tour
We will be taking you to an old local bar and giving you information about the vast beer culture in Belgium. (Believe me, it is like wine tasting in France or Italy) You will get a flight of 4 Belgian beers to taste. Are you a person of sweets? Then we will jump into the land of sugar together, and you will taste fine chocolates and eat Belgian Waffle throughout the tour. Everybody who lives in Belgium (including French) knows very well that fries are from Belgium and not in France. The world knows them as French Fries. This particular tour is focused on changing your idea and never calling the name of French Fries again. Please note tastings are limited to 1 portion/1 glass of each. You may choose not to have them all, but it does not change the price. Please note it takes around 2-2.5 hours, depending on weather conditions. You will see at least 4 famous monuments located within walking distance. We will be giving information about the history of the monuments as well. Other things to note We will try to understand your taste and what you like the most and adjust all the experiences according to yours.
Brussels through its comics murals - Tintin, Asterix, Smurfs
As you might not know Belgium is not only famous for its waffles, beers and chocolate but also for being the cradle of the 9th Art : comics (known as "bande dessinée -BD" in French). Never heard of Tintin, The Smurfs, Lucky Luke, Astérix, ... ? To commemorate the link between Belgium and comics, 50ish murals have been painted throughout Brussels' center since the 90's (and a few more a bit outside of it). So together we will discover Brussels’ center throughout the visit of some of those comics murals/paintings. I will give you some short explanations on each of them and will answer your questions if you are curious on the subject. Of course there will be many other points of attention along the way like buildings, squares, and street art. If interested I can also give you my inner opinion and some tips for your next visits (bars, restaurants, museums...) . As the tour is not a 5 hours tour, please don't expect to see all the comics murals that are quite widespread in the city and to receive long historical explanations on each buildings that we will encounter. It's not a historical tour, others do that better than I could :-) The point of this experience is to discover a part of Belgian comics culture/history and to show you -through a selection of comics murals- some streets and neighborhoods you probably would not have visited on your own...
