Walk Your Way Through Boston's History
We will start our tour at the Lenox hotel in the heart of the Back Bay neighborhood, and will end at historic Faneuil Hall where there are endless places to eat and explore after the tour. Not only will we visit the famous Boston Freedom Trail, but also hidden treasures not covered on other tours. My tour runs approximately 2 1/2 hours. Unlike some other walking tours, I try to cover as much of Boston as possible. The walk is not fast paced, but we do cover about two miles. Wear comfortable shoes. The Back Bay - Explore one of Boston's most famous neighborhoods. Home to some of Boston's most beautiful buildings such as the Boston Public Library and the Trinity Church. Boston Public Garden - Visit the beautiful gardens, and say hello to the Swan Boats, and the Make Way for Ducklings statues! If you come during the right time of year, they may even be donning some accessories! Boston Common - Bask in the freedom of the oldest public park in the United States. Cheers Bar - Where everybody knows your name. Beacon Hill - View Boston's most historic neighborhood. Complete with original brick sidewalks and gas lanterns (you can thank some friendly 20th-century neighborhood rioters for those bricks). The New State House - Is as impressive as the political debates inside...we think.
Bloodlust: Mysteries of Victorian Boston
Explore a true crime murder mystery in quaint, post-Civil War Boston. In the late 1800s, Boston experienced a rash of gruesome murders and unexplained phenomena. People were accused of being witches and vampires, and of conversing with the dead, all while a serial murder lurked just out of sight. Looking for a time that isn't listed? Send me a message and maybe we can work something out. While we made pioneering strides in the new fields of forensics and toxicology, we hosted mad scientists and psychologists who treated the mentally ill in unsavory ways. The background for a number of historic movies and shows, the country’s largest Victorian neighborhood, the South End is all within a few blocks of Copley Square and Back Bay. Buried beneath this neighborhood's eye-catching English gardens and breathtaking brick rowhouses, the Gothic churches and strange statuary that tourist rarely see, is a unique experience you won’t want to miss. There will be some graphic discussion of violence and murder. Participant discretion is advised.

Intro Letterpress Printing Workshop
At the Quick Letterpress Printing Workshop, we will examine the history and technology that made letterpress printing possible, we will typeset lead type into monogrammed notecards, and we will use an antique Vendercook proofing press to print these notecards onto a range of carstock and fine art papers. Attendees will take home a personalized A2 notecard that they typeset and printed themselves. Great for teams, great for families and great for groups! I've had several bridal showers, company team-building workshops and family outings at the press, and everyone has a great time. Print your family motto, short quote, pithy joke or your company vision statement! Other things to note This is a hands-on experience, and letterpress printing is a technical trade that takes some physical involvement. Your hand-made item will, indeed, be hand-made by you!

Sail on the Schooner Fame of Salem
Haul up the sails! Take the tiller! Or just chill out with a local craft beer while our historic schooner slides through Salem Sound past lighthouses, forts, and waterfront homes. The captain and crew will explain the significance of the FAME, privateering, and the War of 1812. The firing of the cannon is always a highlight! We'll motor out from Pickering Wharf in downtown Salem and call for volunteers to help raise the sails. Depending on the wind, we may shape a course toward Beverly, Marblehead, or head straight out toward the islands! Our interactive crew point out landmarks, explain the operation of the schooner, and mix drinks with equal facility. The sails last roughly an hour and forty minutes. When we return to Pickering Wharf, you're right in the heart of downtown Salem — perfectly placed for a meal, a drink, or a stroll! Note: We will not sail if steady rain, high winds, or thick fog are expected; you will be refunded. Message us if you are unsure about the forecast. Dress for the weather — you are exposed to the elements on our 1812 schooner! This trip is NOT appropriate for infants or toddlers. But once kids are 4-5 years old, they really enjoy it! The schooner is certified for 49 passengers plus crew, but since 2021 we are sailing at 60% capacity, which means there will be a maximum of 29 guests on your sail.

Then we'll end at historic Faneuil Hall, one of the most popular tourist sites in America, where there are famous eateries and endless places to explore.
Lobster Roll and Mobster Stroll
This experience is actually about 3.5 hours total! On the Lobster Roll and Mobster Stroll experience, you will enjoy a lobster roll, chips and drink from James Hook Lobster company. James Hook is a recipient of the prestigious "Best of Boston" award from Boston magazine for best lobster roll. You will then join us on the highly-rated "Mobsters, mayhem and murder" experience for a walking tour focused on Boston's criminal history. There is mature language on this tour, similar to an R-rated movie/TV-MA show. It is not recommended for children under 12. Parental discretion is advised. (The tour part itself is 2.5 hours roughly). Enjoy the local flavor, then see a different side of the city which no other tour offers! Other things to note The experience is actually 3.5 hours total! After you eat, make your way into the parking lot next to James Hook (NOT the side with the picnic tables). If you see "408 Atlantic ave" on the corner of the building across from you, you're in the right place. The tour will be starting promptly, so make sure you're on time or early for your lunch.
