Roots évasions vous propose une immersion dans un lieu sauvage et paradisiaque, au coeur d une forêt tropicale ou nous découvrons la première chute au bout d'une quinzaine de minutes de marche et de dénivelé. Nous repartirons à la découverte de sentiers et d arbres majestueux en redescendant une rivière, pour arriver à la deuxième chute ou nous attend un magnifique jacuzzi naturel. Then this experience is a MUST for you! We will meet at Beyond Roots headquarter in Old Havana to share a cup of coffee and get to know each other. Then we´ll travel to the town of Guanabacoa, the cradle of Afro-Cuban culture in Havana. Once there we´ll have a firsthand contact with the Cuban life and our practices by meeting a “Babalawo”--the highest priest of Santeria. He will cleanse us at his altar and explain us about the main Afro-Cuban Religions and how he looks into people’s future and gives advices . We´ll enjoy typical Afro-Cuban food and relax under the shadow of a sacred Ceiba tree listening to emblematic music played by members of the community and enjoy a dance performance while we taste a cup of Aguardiente, the beverage used in all Afro-Cuban religious practices. After that we´ll go back to Beyond Roots store, the first and only Afro style shop in Cuba, having the opportunity to visit an space dedicated to highlighting the Afro identity in the island. We will swim and snorkel near Havana to find the remains of one of either this two ships, SS Olivette or City of Alexandria, both American ships that sank in the waters off Havana in an incredible, historic natural event. Depending on the weather and the guests' skills, we will decide to go to one of them each time. We will meet early in the morning in Old Havana. On the way to the beach, I will tell you the story of the century-old shipwreck. AT THE BEACH, we will warm up with simple physical exercises and go over the safety rules. We will also check everybody's comfort with sea activities, as safety is an absolute priority. If needed, we will teach you basic breath-holding techniques. We will swim 450 yards over the coral reef (SS Olivette) or 300 yards (City of Alexandria) until we get on top of the shipwreck. Normally, you can see the wreck perfectly from the water's surface. The whole expedition might take two to three hours. Later, we can enjoy the beach while sharing stories about nice snorkeling adventures. This experience focuses on the difficult process of making a cigar. From the hand of an experienced cigar roller we will learn to make an examplar, we will explain all the specificities that accompany the process of making this product, from the time it is grown, until it reaches your hands. This will be the perfect time for our CIGAR CHALLENGE, after which we will reward the best cigar roller of the experience. After choosing our winner (special ceremony included), we will go on to what we consider to be an authentic ritual: the smoking of the habano, action that we will combine with other delights, giving way to an excellent pairing among cigars, rum and coffee. And then, SURPRISE, a second contest!! We will be competing among each other to select the person who manages to keep the longest cigar ash, and the one who best performs some other tricks we will be teaching you. This is called: LONG ASH CONTEST. We will take a cultural walk around the Palenqe of Benkos, off the beaten path, where you will be immersed in the Africa hidden in Colombia. We named it Black Legacy Experience, because it is definitely an essential place for our black history in Colombia. This town hosts a sort of spin off of Cartagena's history in timeline. In this Adventure you will visit the Tanama river in the Arecibo area. It starts with a hike down a muddy, slippery and rocky trail to the river(1.5 miles of hard hiking). We will arrive to the top of a cave and do a 250 ft long zipline that will take your breath away with the view. Here is where most participants rest a while for the next activity. When we are all set we will hike upstream to a huge cave and then jumped into the refreshing water. We will enter the caves and we will see some amazing water curtains and springs. At the exit of the second cave we do a small stop and you will have the option of submerging into the water to visit a secret cave. Tour isn’t over yet. Now the guides will show you the best tricks to do the white water tubing. While you are in the white water tubing you will pass some rapids and also some amazing canons all the way until you get to the third and last cave. At the exit of this cave you will do a small climb and the hike back to the cars. Duration 4-6 hours. Other things to note Don't let the beautiful sights fool you. I'll begin by sharing my experience/background and a why I was capable to do a book about cigars and rum. After that I will teach you how I learn to roll cigars and tips so you can do your own cigar on the way that the farmers do on the Vegas of Cigars,also you will learn how to salute a Cuban God(Elegua) . Next, we will focus on understanding how to smoke a cigar, and I'll share some tips and best practices when smoking some of my own hand-rolled cigars just for me and mixing them with chocolate. “The history of tobacco, its appearance, preparing it, cutting it, choosing it, how to smoke it, extinguishing it, will be some of the questions that we will answer so that your cigar education is complete, including how to differentiate a real cigar from a fake one. Lastly, I will give away 5 cigars that you can keep as a souvenir at the end of the experience. This nature excursion is unique because it is in our home. You will meet my family and all the birds living in the wild who make our garden their home. We'll start with a welcome and brief history of how a cliff turned into a botanical garden. This is followed by a guided visit of the terraced garden with hundreds of tropical plants. At the end you will then visit the gallery and gift shop where all items are made on site. This helps us to provide jobs for members of the community presently employed here. Our guests are then encouraged to stroll the garden on their own taking pictures and visit my partner in his studio as he paints. We are both educators, so the history of Jamaica and Rastafarians are shared with interested guests. Each guest is given a complimentary juice depending on the fruit in season. You can purchase an optional Jamaican lunch which is cooked to order. The lunch is not included in the entry and may be paid on property when you order. Amateur and professional photographers can spend hours in the garden as the subjects are numerous. There are optional art classes with my partner as the instructor. Vous serez plongé progressivement dans un environnement vierge et sauvage, nous irons à la source de la rivière dans les hauteurs de fort-de-france vers Absalon, en plein coeur de la foret martiniquaise. Apres 20 minutes de marche dans le Zion ( dans la foret). Nous nous poserons dans un spa naturel près des petits jacuzzi de rivière et d'une source d'argile grise dont les bienfaits pour la peau et la santé sont magnifiques. Purifiante, cicatrisante et régénérante (entre autres). Après s’être purifié dans les jacuzzi naturels, nous feront un gommage a l'argile, des exercices de respiration et de la méditation afin de repartir complètement zen de ce lieu magique . Debout sur la planche, glissant sur des eaux limpides, vous aurez une vue privilégiée sur la faune et la flore maritime. Dans la bonne humeur et la convivialité nous découvrirons l’étonnante richesse et la complexité de l’écosystème du Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin. Nous parlerons des principaux rôles de la mangrove, des espèces qui s'y abritent et vous saurez tout sur les palétuviers. Le stand up paddle permet aussi de s’aventurer dans des espaces étroits, inaccessibles en bateau, pour découvrir la beauté du cœur même de la mangrove. Cette randonnée vous entrainera ainsi sous des tunnels de végétaux formés de galeries de palétuviers. Après cette visite au cœur de la mangrove, une halte dans une petite crique pour une citronnade maison bien méritée. A la fin de la matinée nous partons dans une autre crique pour le déjeuner (mise en bouche, entrée, plat du jour, desssert, café, boissons, tout "fait bateau"), généralement le bourg des Anses d'Arlet. L'après-midi est à la carte : snorkeling, paddles, nage avec les tortues, farniente : chacun à sa façon ! Retour pour 16h après un petit verre offert par l'équipage Tarif réduit pour les enfants de 5 à 9 ans : 51€ la journée avec snorkeling & déjeuner. Possibilité de privatiser le catamaran pour votre groupe : 790€ la privatisation jusqu'à 10 personnes avec les activités, + 25€/adulte et 12€/enfant pour le déjeuner à bord (sauf si vous apportez votre picnic). Possibilité de rester dormir à bord du bateau-logement AVENTURE (109€/nuitée pour 2 personnes, +20€/pers supplémentaire dans la limite de 5 personnes en tout). Roots évasions vous propose une immersion dans un lieu sauvage et paradisiaque, au coeur d une forêt tropicale ou nous découvrons la première chute au bout d'une quinzaine de minutes de marche et de dénivelé. Nous repartirons à la découverte de sentiers et d arbres majestueux en redescendant une rivière, pour arriver à la deuxième chute ou nous attend un magnifique jacuzzi naturel. En reprenant la route à travers des champs de balisiers et de cacaoyers nous tombons sur deux magnifiques bassins de baignade. Puis nous continuerons a longer la rivière. Apres l' effort le réconfort, un bon étirement détente sera de mise.. Et pour clôturer, un brunch sera offert , avec apéro. Early in the morning (7:30) I'll pickup you and drive to the dive site, while we get there I'll explain about our culture, identity and from where we come from. Our dive site is located 30 min from downtown and outside of the traditional touristic crowded places. There I'll show them the treasures of our tropical water, where they will discover the marvelous coral's reef ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to discover part of our day by day activities, our identity and our human contact with people who wants to learn about the way we live.
