La Lancha, an untouched blue water Surf beach unlike any other destination in the Sayulita and Punta Mita Area. We believe this is a most-do experience if you want to experience surfing in the area.

We will depart from our Sayulita meeting location and do the 25 minute drive through a Jungle road South towards the Punta Mita area, where La Lancha Surfing beach is. Once at the entrance of La Lancha, we will grab boards from our Surf Shop, and head towards the beach via a 10 min Jungle Hike. Depending on your level, our surfing dynamic will vary (described bellow). After a full surf session we will head back to our surf shop, where we can rinse , grab a cold drink and head back to Sayulita.

We can host any level of Surfers, from 1 st timers touching a surfboard for the first time to seasoned surfers wanting to experience a secluded surfbreak with mellow waves and a beautiful beach.

Hello, my name is Javier, I have been fortunate enough to spend most of my life surfing, biking and doing outdoor activities.

I moved from Guadalajara to Sayulita in 2005, with the goal of living a life closer to nature and surf.

My main focus is now to share this life with others, and to help people travelling to Sayulita to enjoy all the outdoor experiences that this fantastic town has to offer.

This experience is really important for me, because La Lancha is my favorite beach in the area to surf, plus, I participated on a social fight (which we won!!!) to keep this beach open to the public in 2018.

Most sunsets, you will find me and mi dog, Aura, at La Lancha Beach, catching a few waves with a big smile

Our meeting location is at Sayulita, however we are doing a short drive over to La Lancha Beach at the Punta de Mita area. In order to get to the beach, we have to do a 10 minute jungle walk from our parking spot.
La Lancha beach is gorgeous, has mellow beginner and longboard waves and is surrounded by untouched jungle

Highly recommend surfing lessons from this team! We went for personalized lessons after having taken some beginner lessons at home. Roberto and his team look us to a great location and shared tips that really helped improve our skills. Our 9 year old caught quite a few waves and had the best time. Also with 1:1 instruction, it was a great workout!

Vraiment une super expérience. Les moniteurs sont bienveillants et savent donner les bons conseils pour réussir à surfer. La plage est magnifique avec quasiment personne à côté Je recommande

This was the first time surfing for my boys and I booked this experience as the finale to our ten days in Puerto Vallarta. PROS Most importantly, Roberto was a very good and patient teacher, and all three of my boys (two teens, one tween) were able to surf successfully. And even though I was just there as an observer, Roberto let me use his board while he worked with them. They accommodated us last minute and the shuttle driver was very exceptionally friendly. If these were the only factors, with no cons, I'd easily rate it five stars. CONS The two cons involve time. The first is the duration of the activity, billed as 4+ hours but nearly half of that is travel (shuttle and hiking -- and there was no option given to "meet us at La Lancha" vs. take the shuttle from San Pancho or Saylita) and I wonder whether the intention of publishing 4+ hours is not so much to manage expectations about the overall commitment but instead to boost the perception of value return. The waves at La Lancha were excellent for beginners -- very consistent in both size/shape and cadence/frequency, much more so than those at San Pancho, and so I can appreciate the benefits of going to La Lancha, but I wonder whether lessons of 1.5-2 hours directly from the beaches at San Pancho or Saylita, and at a considerably lower price, would have been better overall. Also, we were supposed to have had two hours of surf time but ended up with just under 90 minutes. This was due in large part to the "jungle hike" down to the beach having been slowed quite a bit due to tons of mud resulting from the previous night's rain. Which is of course understandable and nobody's fault, but I would have hoped (as I mentioned to Javier later) that in this case either the schedule would have been adjusted to ensure two hours surfing, or a small portion of the fee would have been reimbursed. NOTE Although this appears on Airbnb to be something of an experience offered by an individual surfer (Javier) and a few of his buddies, it's in fact Wildmex, one of the area's large outfitters. This isn't totally hidden from the listing (one of the photos shows a surfer with a Wildmex shirt, and the description mentions "our surf shop"), but it's certainly not conspicuous. Of course at the end of the day we went surfing at a great beach on solid gear with a very good teacher, but it seems perhaps mildly disingenuous.

Al was the instructor for my daughters (11&12), my wife, and I. We are all beginners, and he did an excellent job of going over the basics at the Wildmex shop and then additionally once we got down to the beach. Luis joined us down and the beach and together they helped pushing us into as many waves as they could. Before long we were all riding waves. La Lancha beach and the surf was perfect for what we were looking to accomplish and maybe one day we can even make it out to the next break for the bigger waves! As others will mention, it is about a 10 minute hike through the jungle to get on the beach. It’s a fun little trail to be carrying a surf board through and was definitely a bit of challenge since it had recently rained and was muddy. Luckily Wildmex provided booties to get through this terrain. We enjoyed the experience so much, we went back a few days later and rented boards for a quick daybreak session!

Al was a fantastic surfing instructor for our family of complete beginners. The walk from the surf shop through the jungle to La Lancha while carrying a surf board was fairly strenuous and very muddy after heavy rains. Otherwise, we had a great time learning to surf.
