Ozokwenza

Melbourne is the sports capital of the world and this tour will show you why!
This walking tour also includes a behind-the-scenes stadium tour of the world famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) - Australia's largest stadium (100k+ capacity).

We'll cover 184 years of Melbourne's sporting history and look at how sports media influenced Melbourne’s multicultural identity. From there we'll visit the site of Melbourne's first competitive sporting event and relive the incredible stories of the people instrumental in building this sporting city.

We'll then visit the site of the 1956 Olympic Games, stand on the track and hear Australia's most inspirational sporting story and the story of it’s darkest and most controversial sporting day.

We'll then head to the Tennis Walk of Fame and get photos with the statues of tennis legends, hear their incredible stories and see Rod Laver Arena - Home of the Australian Open!
We'll also visit Show Court 3, a court graced by the likes of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Williams and more.

From there you'll go behind-the-scenes of the MCG which includes pitch side, the players changing rooms, press conference room, coaches box & more!

***If booking in November, December or January - please note that all tennis aspects of the tour will be subject to availability due to the Australian Open. We'll attempt to cover as much of this area as possible.

Hi, I'm Mike. I was born in London however I've spent the last 10 years working on Melbourne's biggest sporting events including the Australian Open tennis, Formula One Grand Prix, AFL Grand Final and more.
I love Melbourne's sporting culture so much that 18 months ago I decided to create Melbourne's first ever sports walking tour. I'm now living my dream and I'd love to show you why Melbourne is considered the sports capital of the world.

A great tour to get the knowledge behind Melbourne's sporting history and in a way where you could never do by yourself. The MCG tour at the end was just the cherry on top in my opinion.

We wanted a tour with difference whilst in Melbourne and one that would provide insight into an area of interest that we wouldn’t be likely to get on our own. The sports tour with Mike delivered perfectly.

This sports tour with Michael was fantastic. Michael knows a lot about sport which enhances the tour by providing the participants with background information on the venues visited. The walk is particularly pleasant alongside the Yarra River section learning about rowing history in Melbourne. I learnt something new every step of the tour. Michael is friendly and considerate of his tour participants. I recommend this tour.
