First stop is an open area at the beginning of Istikal Street with many kebap stands to choose from. Second food stand stop is a place that is on a side street. It's a slightly narrow street with stone walk ways that really gives you the feel of Old Istanbul. Next stop is a small, very famous and old authentic little local restaurant where we will try Adana Kebap; a reminder of history. Last stop dessert shop. Many options of turkish dessert.
At this particular time of little tourism we were the only guests for this tour, furthermore we booked at 3pm for a same day tour at 5pm, John quickly arranged everything for our tour to start sharply at 5pm. We had an amazing time, discovered amazing neighborhoods in Istanbul, delicious food (8 stops) and learned so much about local life and history of Istanbul. Food was delicious including freshly squeezed juices. John is very generous and pays for all 8 shops and restaurant as part of the tour.
We truly enjoyed our time with John and connected with him again daily when in need of info and tips and also to arrange other activities. We booked an amazing 60' boat for an evening private tour, every couple should do this, this was an unforgettable experience.
Trust this tour guide, you will be happy you did. Avoid the big tour companies and guide these locals a chance, you will have a much better/personal experience with a feeling that you have made new friends in Istanbul.

This tour was just as engaging as it was delicious. Loved being able to explore and eat through a neighborhood that we probably wouldn’t have ventured into on our own. Highly recommend this tour, it’s delicious food and delightful hosts. We felt like it gave us insight as to what to order for the rest of our trip

It's a shame that it was raining when I met up with John and Matt for the food walk, but it didn't really dampen our spirits - especially with such a plethora of Turkish delights (and I don't just mean the dessert) to dive into.
They took me to their favourite haunts around Taksim, and even shared some stories about their home country, their lives outside of being experience hosts, and just general camaraderie; even though it was my first time in Istanbul, and only just for less than five hours, it felt like I came by to meet up with friends I haven't seen in a while, and we spent hours walking around Taksim having bits of the best Turkish food for dinner while catching up with each other.
They have definitely left me a good impression when it comes to Istanbul, and I can't wait to plan a proper trip to the city (and the rest of Turkey) again in the future! çok teşekkür ederim! :)

It was an amazing way to get to know Istanbul’s delicious food! John took us places we would never have gone as tourists and he knew exactly what to ask for and also quantity. John is friendly, relaxed and knows his way around. It’s a great experience since you eat , walk, eat, walk.... so you never feel overfed or tired of walking. We did it our firs day of our trip and the next couple of days we knew exactly what to eat.
