Ukuqoqwa kwentela yabahlali nezimali ezidonswayo ze-Airbnb e-Malaysia
Guests who book Airbnb listings that are located in Malaysia will pay the following tax as part of their reservation:
- Tourism Tax: 10 Malaysian Ringgit per listing per night. Malaysian citizens or permanent residents are exempt from this tax. For detailed information, visit the Royal Malaysian Customs Department’s website.
For guests
I am a citizen or permanent resident of Malaysia. Where do I submit my government ID?
Submit your Malaysian Government ID before you make a booking for a Malaysian stay to be eligible for the tax exemption.
I have submitted my Malaysian Government ID on my Airbnb account. Can I qualify for Malaysian Tourism Tax exemption for bookings made before submitting my Government ID?
No, Malaysian Tourism Tax exemption only applies to bookings made by guests after they have submitted a Malaysian Government ID.
I have submitted my Malaysian Government ID on my Airbnb account before I made a booking for a Malaysian stay and I was charged the Tourism Tax. Can I get a refund?
If you have submitted a valid Malaysian Government ID before you made the booking, please contact us here.
Where can I find the Tourism Tax amount collected by Airbnb on my receipt?
The occupancy tax on the receipt is the Tourism Tax amount collected.
For hosts
I am currently registered to collect and remit Tourism Tax for my listing(s). Is there anything I need to change?
Do not collect Tourism Tax for bookings made from 1 January 2023 onwards on Airbnb for your listing(s). This is because Airbnb is responsible for collecting and remitting Tourism Tax on such bookings.
If you added taxes, update your settings to avoid double-collection of taxes.
