Urban food tasting with Bogota bloggers
We’re Joey & Giovanni, local bloggers behind the website Bogotivo - where we write about the best places to eat, drink, party, and sleep in Colombia’s cool capital city. While one of us is American and the other Venezuelan, we love our adopted home of Bogotá. You can consider us your new friends that are here to help you discover the secrets of the city through experiencing the foods, drinks, streets, people, and culture of Bogotá.
Our day will start in the bustling downtown area of Bogotá where we will make our way to a lively food hall to try authentic Colombian Ajiaco, one of the most emblematic dishes from here. Then we will shop for fruit and fresh ingredients at the market that we will use to make mojitos later:
Then we'll take Polaroid photos in front of vibrant street art in the bohemian La Macarena neighborhood and then visit our favorite bakery for a special passion fruit dessert.
From here we will use public transit like a local to arrive to Zona G, the gastronomic zone of the city.
Next we will go to a local coffee shop for coffee (or another beverage) with a buñuelo.
Finally, we will head to Chapinero where we live! You’ll be welcomed to our apartment terrace for a mojito-making workshop and exotic fruit tasting while watching the sun go down over the city.

Fruit Tour at World's sweetest Market
We'll meet at the "sweetest market on earth" Paloquemao Market. Once in there we'll start tasting different delicacies and start connecting the history and traditions of Colombia with its fruits. Depending on the season of the year, we’ll taste around 25 different fruits. After walking around the market and its sections, we'll end the experience with a fruit juice tasting that goes along with a traditional snack. The privileged geographic position Colombia has due to its proximity to the equator and the Andes crossing the whole country creates the perfect conditions for fruits to develop unique flavors.
Colombia's regions through the fruits
We will guide you through the Colombian regions and their variety of fruits in one of Bogota’s most dynamic markets: Paloquemao.
We'll start with an introduction on Colombia's privileged location and richness of biodiversity.
Then, we'll take a walk through the market and make occasional stops to taste a variety of fruits while discussing their origins, known nutrients, traditional uses and environmental impact.
As some of the fruits are mainly used in juices and smoothies, we'll make a stop at a refreshments spot to taste them.
And last but not least, we'll end up at some stores where you'll be able to shop some of these fruits to take them back home without breaking any international air law.
Then, you'll be free to walk around the market again and take any photographs that we'd be happy to help you with or stay for lunch.
Exciting, huh?!? Book now :)
