How was life behind the Berlin Wall
A trip down memory lane with a Berlin local: You will meet a "Berliner" and you will find out about life in the GDR and in West Berlin before the Berlin wall came down and also life in the 34 years since the reunification. We'll talk about personal life in Berlin from personal experience and about the society and community that came out of the two different political systems and about a typical East and West Berliner. We'll start the experience at the historical former checkpoint Bornholmer Strasse, where the Berlin Wall first fell and talk about "why the Berlin Wall was built and why it fell so suddenly. History was written here on the 9th of November 1989 where people demonstrated for freedom. After the historical part we walk 2km on "No man’s land” to visit one of most popular parks in Berlin called "Mauerpark". On weekends you feel Berlin’s underground vibes with live music, graffiti artists, the biggest flea market and live karaoke here. Mauerpark is famous for its “hidden” Berlin wall with graffiti statements and Berlin life style. The best place to take memorable pictures!
The Dark Heart of the Third Reich
This two-hour 'walking discussion’ will take you off the beaten track and away from the big sites to explore the essentials of Nazism. We’ll discuss why ordinary people supported the Reich as we stroll through a residential area. We'll stop by the old synagogue to discuss what drove their infamous Jewish policies and use a nearby park as a metaphor to help us understand their foreign policies. We’ll also catch a glimpse of what it was like to fight on the streets of Berlin in 1945, using a role-playing technique that helps put you in the place of local commanders on both sides. This experience is less a chronology of the rise of the Nazis and more a deeper dive into the WHY’s of it all. By the end, you will have explored a now vibrant Berlin neighbourhood and unlocked some of its secrets, all of which will give you a deeper and more rounded picture of those disturbing 12 years. You’ll also catch a glimpse of life in modern Berlin which helps you to understand the profound changes which have taken place since the war.

History and alternative tracks
I am passionate about Berlin History, especially about the period during the Wall. I propose an original experience along the old No man's land to discover life in the East and West but also to understand the evolution and atmosphere of this city. Why is this capital so unique today and how did it happen? My anecdotes and knowledge are accompanied by archive photos that I am constantly looking for. We discover the history of many places, witnesses of the past, what they have become or what they will become. These are for example: old buildings, squats, factories, clubs, to new alternative places and lots of other surprises. I am very dynamic and smiling, my energy and my stories, will surely captivate you for 3h. I love to meet new people and spend time with them, I know how to adapt to my audience. The tour ends in a friendly way over a drink, in an authentic place that hosts one of the best restaurants in Berlin. (By chance, lunch menus are discounted, we usually share lunch together depending on our different schedules). I will provide you with tips and lots of infos for the rest of your stay. I suggest you do this experience as soon as you arrive in Berlin because it will offer you a wide vision to optimize your stay. See you soon!
Poor, but Sxy- Walking Tour of Berlin
In a 3 hour walking tour, we will: Discover 1920’s Berlin - the 'City of Vice' - where cabaret was born and all manner of erotic desires could be sated, as well as the following Nazi 'clean up'. We will explore the center of gay culture in Berlin, and discuss the long history of gay rights in Germany going back to the mid 1800s. Learn how Berlin consistently rebuffs mainstream culture and remains a playground for street artists. Learn about the seemingly endless murals & paintings throughout the districts of Berlin. Street art remains to this day a form of protest and self-expression - art for the sake of art. We will witness these beautiful creations in their natural habitats, rather than in sterile, white-walled galleries. Berliners value non-corporate spaces - from public city parks to independent river-side bars. We'll see some of the places where they have fought gentrification and pursued post-capitalistic ideals. We will also discuss the 'squat' movement in Berlin and see where people have reclaimed unused, abandoned buildings and created unique homes for themselves and their friends. Other things to note Check the weather! (We will still go if it's raining, but not a downpour) I'll send you a message the morning of the tour to check in.
