Tip-Based Asheville Walking Tour
Pay what you want in the end!
We will start downtown in Pack Square to learn about the history, architecture, and some of the local legends surrounding Asheville! During our tour, we will be sure to cover all major landmarks like the Basilica of St Lawrence, and the Grove Park Arcade, but we will also go off the beaten path to explore the Block, the YMI, Woolworth Walk's old-timey soda fountain, and Wall St's catwalk!
During the trip, I will be providing insider tips on the best places to eat, drink and play for the best prices, including the places where locals hang out for free! We will discuss hidden gems that many people walk by daily without ever noticing an eagle overhead, the faces engraved on the wall, or secret mice! We will dive deeper into Asheville's "buy local" culture and what that means for companies who get listed as "sell-outs." Also, we will discuss stories of sabotage, controversy, and little-known success stories of previous residents! We will also check out a cool museum called Leaf Global and taste local spirits from a distillery!
At the end, my guest will get discount beer tickets to taste some local brews from one of Asheville's finest, local breweries called Twin Leaf.

Manual Photo Class - Pro Instructor
In light of current events- I’m offering this class in the comfort of your home via viirtual class ! If calendar is still locked contact Syresa Rowland
We meet at our privately owned 1884 farm - like a private Cades Cove in Pigeon Forge. It was actually the first resort in Sevier County!
Class begins inside and informally with each person giving their experience and interest in photography. I ask that each person have a simple knowledge of their camera's menu before arrival. This allows as much time as possible for learning how to use the camera controls in manual setting and practicing hands on.
We will learn about the exposure triangle and how each element works singly and in combination. You practice each element as single settings and then learn how to combine the three for best results in capturing your images.
We then go onto the grounds of our historic 1884 farm and practice, practice, practice.
Other things to note
We will have a wonderful, relaxing class. Sharing our love for photography while expanding our creative horizions. You will be able to out-think the little man that controls the automatic setting in your camera-LOL

Four Wheeler riding with mountain view & waterfalls
I’ll meet you across the street from our cabin where we have the four wheelers parked and show you how to operate them. We have helmets and safety gear, no experience is necessary. We have five quads, each different size, utility style ATVs. We’ll do a couple runs in the field to get you comfortable on your quad, then we’ll head up a private loop trail with great views of the mountains. Afterwards we will follow the river on a trail that ends at the top of a secluded waterfall. You are welcome to bring snacks and relax here and take a break before riding back. Here’s a link to our folks Airbnb rental on site if you’re still looking for a place to stay.
Experience the Pottery Wheel
We are excited to offer visitors an experience to get their hands in clay and work on a potters wheel. This hands-on pottery experience will introduce beginners to the magic of throwing clay on a potters wheel in a small intimate setting. Your teacher will patiently guide you along the way.
NOTE: From start to finish the process for making a pot takes several days given the need to throw, dry, trim, bisque, glaze, and fire. It's because of the long process of completing a pot that WE ARE NOT ABLE TO OFFER PARTICIPANTS THE OPTION OF TAKING THEIR POTS HOME after just a couple hours in the studio. THERE WILL NOT BE A FINISHED POT TO TAKE HOME, PICK UP, OR HAVE SHIPPED. BUT, You will have a great time experiencing what it’s like throwing clay on the potters wheel!
Upon arrival we'll do a tour of the studio and explain the process of making a pot from beginning to end. You will see our wood kiln, and we'll explain how we fire. After the tour, we will roll up our sleeves and put on our aprons. You will be taught basic throwing skills through demonstrations on the potters wheel with step-by-step instructions. After a demonstration, guests will have the opportunity to try the potters wheel on their own and will be guided with techniques along the way.
Aprons are supplied. Please wear comfortable clothing you won’t mind getting clay on and have long hair tied back.

Science by the Sea provides a private boat tour for two adults per tour and begins on the Beaufort Waterfront. Look for the late afternoon times on the calendar. (Miriam is the owner/operator of Science by the Sea & has been guiding visitors through the Rachel Carson Reserve since 1997.)
