Then, we'll share surfing fundamentals, safety, and etiquette as well as review wave dynamics, positioning, and proper stand-up technique. Other things to note
Equipment rental (board / wetsuit) rate is normally $50.00. Rentals are available at the shop where we meet.
Great for groups, great for teams and great for team building.
*This experience has a 3 person minimum and we will cancel or rebook you to a private lesson if that minimum is not met.
San Francisco Bay private sunset sail
Snuggle up with your partner on the deck of a private yacht for an unforgettable sunset- the always changing and unpredictable fog creates dramatic skies and a memorable encounter with bay nature. Maybe even spot a dolphin or a seal in the water, and definately seabirds and sweeping views of surrounding landscape. Bring your own special bottle of wine or drink of your choice to celebrate, we'll provide the cooler and ice!
Other things to note
Please wear comfortable and safe shoes (no high heels) and bring layers. We may adjust the time of the sail to be out during actual sunset as it changes throughout the year and with daylight savings.
Vegan picnic with rescued animals
We'll start with a tour of the sanctuary where you'll meet a variety of rescued farm animals. We'll share their stories of resilience and healing and talk a bit more about the industries they come from. You'll love meeting our animal ambassadors and may be surprised at what you learn, since we so rarely see the animals in our food system.
Join us afterwards at our picnic tables in the field for a glass of local wine and a vegan cheese and charcuterie platter. (Note: The platter contains nuts and gluten unless otherwise requested. Please inform us of any allergies when you make your booking so we can be sure to provide suitable options. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.)
The Experience will last approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Please be mindful that as a sanctuary for rescued animals, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home.
Our loved animal residents are completely free and always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors. They will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives, where we'll have the honor of taking care of them.

San Francisco Bay Sailing Awesomeness
Get a taste for what an awesome experience living, working and voyaging on a sailboat can be, while viewing fantastic landmarks from the uncrowded deck, using sustainable and eco friendly wind power. Perhaps choose an evening sail, and enjoy a wonderful sunset. We will be outside only, with plenty of space, breathing clean Pacific air!
Get a little salty while we sail and chat about what it's like going far from land and crossing oceans, from endless waves and wind, to calm nights under starry skies. Get a feel for what it's like to live and thrive in a constantly moving small space, in a beautiful but unforgiving environment.
Hear what it's like to battle Tuna and Sailfish while under sail, and have the freshest sushi minutes later. And to anchor in tropical anchorages, bathe in the sea, and surf uncrowded waves right from the boat.
Ask as little or as much as you like about surviving storms, living in foreign countries, meeting great cruising friends, and unplugging from normal living to find another path. Perhaps, ask how you can get started yourself.
Spend time aboard a beautiful, ocean-going yacht that has provided a safe and peaceful haven for her crew over the span of two decades in a green, earth friendly fashion.
Redwoods of Marin & Mt Tamalpais

Tamalpais. Along the way, you learn about the coastal redwoods' amazing ecology and their clever adaptations for survival over many millions of years. It is a remarkable escape into nature on the slopes of beautiful Mt. Tam.
Guests can also meet us in Mill Valley's Old Mill Park, where the walk starts at 10AM weekdays or 12:30PM on weekends.
Weekday guests need to catch the 7:35AM ferry from San Francisco arriving at 8:05AM. Weekend ferry guests need to catch the 12:05PM Golden Gate ferry from the terminal behind SF's Ferry Building (foot of Market St.) The ferry arrives in Sausalito at 12:35PM. I will meet all Sausalito guests outside the Sausalito Chamber of Commerce, 22 El Portal, next to the Inn Above Tide.

Roast Your Own Coffee
If you’ve ever wondered how to roast coffee at home, this coffee class near San Francisco will teach you everything you need to know! In this fun, hands-on workshop you will learn a new skill and roast your own batch of coffee.
Enjoy coffee brewed by barista Donna while examining several popular home-roasting methods, some using tools easily found in many homes. This roasting class is great for beginners, and you can ask questions on any aspect of coffee.
Sharpen your senses as green coffee beans are placed in an open roaster and you observe first-hand the sights, sounds, and aromas as beans transform from green to brown.
Next, your guide will explain using a handheld roaster over an open-flame stove. Now you take charge as the coffee maestro by pre-heating your ceramic roaster, adding raw beans, and applying a gentle motion while watching the progress of your roast develop to the level you desire. When your session ends you will leave as an accomplished coffee roaster with your personally roasted beans plus a bag of green beans to roast at home. Great for small groups, and great for team-building.
Guided Russian River Kayak Tour
Our Sonoma Coast Kayak Tour takes you to the edge of the beautiful Pacific Ocean where we paddle the Russian River as it meets the sea. Birds, seals, and a fantastic paddle are just some of the highlights of this great day on the water.
We meet in the small coastal village of Jenner where your guide will give a brief safety and paddling instruction before beginning the paddle. We spend 2-2.5 hours exploring the beautiful Jenner estuary keeping our eyes open for Harbor seals, cormorants, pelicans, otters, and bald eagles. Your local guide will explain why this is such a special area while discussing history, wildlife, and the weather unique to this ecosystem.
Bake Bread, Create Cheese, Flip Omelets
In this super-charged BRUNCH class, I’ll teach you how to make an easy homemade sourdough bread from scratch without the hassle of a sourdough starter. You will enjoy this bread several ways for brunch alongside other dishes. Besides the bread, we’ll also make fresh ricotta cheese, tartines, and perfect French omelets—made with Petaluma’s famous eggs. The experience will be hands-on and you will learn some valuable cooking skills and tips in this robust class—and at the end of the class you’ll get to take home the loaf of bread you baked, to enjoy later as a delicious souvenir.
This is a great class for beginners, or intermediate bakers, as well as for people who want to learn many general cooking tips, and who want to enjoy a delicious 4-course brunch with a complimentary glass of California bubbly.
This is not a class for people who want to make sourdough bread with a starter.
