Explore the Real Brooklyn
Experience the real Brooklyn with me! Many people want to visit Brooklyn but just don't know where to start. I am here to change that: I will show you five completely different sides of Brooklyn in five different neighborhoods.
You will get an overview of New York City's most populous borough, and I will introduce you to Brooklyn's history, culture and people.
Covering five different neighborhoods, this is the most comprehensive Brooklyn tour available. You'll get to see how diverse Brooklyn truly is when I show you classic Brooklyn brownstone architecture as well as the 'hipster' side of Brooklyn, street art and vintage shops, hidden bars, amazing Manhattan views, an Orthodox Jewish community and grand historic homes.
To be able to show you as much of this giant borough as possible, we are using the subway three times on the tour, but this will give you time to sit down and take a break in between exploring the various neighborhoods on foot.
See "Where we'll be" for the neighborhoods we're visiting on the tour.
Other things to note
-If you book a private tour, I am able to accommodate specific requests for neighborhoods / sights to include.
-Bring a valid MTA subway ticket (ideally a weekly card with unlimited rides) and wear comfortable shoes.
Walk Your Way Through Boston's History
We will start our tour at the Lenox hotel in the heart of the Back Bay neighborhood, and will end at historic Faneuil Hall where there are endless places to eat and explore after the tour.
Not only will we visit the famous Boston Freedom Trail, but also hidden treasures not covered on other tours.
My tour runs approximately 2 1/2 hours. Unlike some other walking tours, I try to cover as much of Boston as possible. The walk is not fast paced, but we do cover about two miles. Wear comfortable shoes.
The Back Bay - Explore one of Boston's most famous neighborhoods. Home to some of Boston's most beautiful buildings such as the Boston Public Library and the Trinity Church.
Boston Public Garden - Visit the beautiful gardens, and say hello to the Swan Boats, and the Make Way for Ducklings statues! If you come during the right time of year, they may even be donning some accessories!
Boston Common - Bask in the freedom of the oldest public park in the United States.
Cheers Bar - Where everybody knows your name.
Beacon Hill - View Boston's most historic neighborhood. Complete with original brick sidewalks and gas lanterns (you can thank some friendly 20th-century neighborhood rioters for those bricks).
The New State House - Is as impressive as the political debates inside...we think.
Hasidic Brooklyn
To many, the Hasidic world is shrouded in mystery and secrecy—well, not anymore.
On this experience you get to see first hand the daily lives, rituals and customs of the Hasidic community, guided by a member of the community. Being able to access places seemingly closed off and hidden to the outsider. An opportunity to be able to ask any and all questions about the Jewish faith, culture and philosophy.
We kick off the experience inside a Hasidic home, and learning about what it takes to keep a Kosher home.
Then its off to the streets of Crown Heights, starting with exploring the world famous “770” Synagogue, getting a glimpse into the hustle and bustle of daily prayer services.
Next stop is a Jewish scribe, seeing up close the intricate details involved in producing the Torah Scrolls. Followed by a walk down the avenue, visiting the local shops, and seeing the traditions dating back to the early 1800’s.
If you don’t see availability for when you would like to join, please message us and we will try to accommodate.
The experience will be hosted by Yoni or Mayer. The experience continues rain, snow or shine (just come prepared).
E-bike tour of Boston
See Boston from an electric bike ("e-bike") in a small group setting! I provide a quality e-bike, bike helmet, and bottle of water. All bikes have hand brakes and gears, so for safety, all riders MUST be comfortable using both. All riders should wear a helmet for safety. We'll adjust and test the bikes for 15-20 minutes, and then we will set out on our ride. Most of our ride is on paved cycle routes with no cars, some of it in the Emerald Necklace Park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, and on the Esplanade along the Charles River. We will cycle along both sides of the river. We can stop for coffee and then ride back through Cambridge and Brookline to Jamaica Plain. There are a few places where we walk the bikes for 2-3 blocks, so guests need to be able to walk a bit. The tour lasts about 3 1/2 hours, depending on how many stops we make and how long we spend at the cafe. This tour will allow you to try an electric bike in a low-stress cycling environment. I hope to see you with the famous "e-bike grin" as you glide along! I can accommodate anyone 16 and over and taller than about 4'8". I can often accommodate different dates and times. New England weather is unpredictable so if the weather conditions are not safe for cycling, I will cancel the tour and you'll receive a full refund.

African American Walking Tour of Lower Manhattan
This unique three-part, 3 hours, walking tour will begin where Manhattan began - at the National Museum of the American Indian. Each part of the tour will last approximately 1 hour. This first leg of the tour will start in Lower Manhattan. Specifically, Bowling Green, where the first enslaved Africans started building the infrastructure of the city, and end at Wall St where the enslaved Africans were brought and sold.
The second leg of the tour will start in the Financial District. We will walk up Wall St to Federal Hall - a site next to a famous free African who owned and operated a famous Oyster House in 1825.
The last leg will start around the Brooklyn Bridge, including the African Burial Ground National Monument plaza.
This tour is great for groups, team-building, field trips, and it's especially beneficial for school-age children.
Depending on the mood and convenience of the group we can stop for snacks, at any time.
Each location is based on a specific chapter in my book. There will be several restroom breaks.
Please note - Finding parking is extremely difficult in Lower Manhattan. Indoor garages will cost between $35-40. I advise using public transportation or car service.
Pasta class with an Italian
ONLY FEW PASTA CLASSES AVAILABLE.
“Life is a combination of magic and pasta” Federico Fellini
Both the hosts are covid 19 vaccinated (booster included)
I will sanitize the workspace and restroom space prior to the class, but keep in mind there is only one bathroom.
Do you want to know how to cook a real fresh Italian pasta with all the tricks that made Italy the country of Pasta? I’m going to teach you all the knowledge that my family (especially my grandmother) passed down to me since I was very little.
We are going to start off with touching and knowing the right ingredients (imported from Italy), and then get ready to get your hands really dirty! We are going to prepare two kinds of pasta: tortelli filled with fresh local ricotta and spinach, and tagliatelle. While mixing with your hands, we cheers with unlimited wine to good food and good company! While we are waiting for the pasta dough to rest we will enjoy a real Italian aperitivo with a charcuterie board. Salute!
This experience can be vegetarian friendly.
This class can’t be suitable for Gluten Free or Vegan.
To finish off the evening we are going to dine with your just made fresh pasta.
PS: since the wine is unlimited, it is our responsibility to make sure that everyone is safe. Therefore if we believe someone is too intoxicated, we will stop serving that individual.
Goat Walkabout
The Experience
After being greeted on the farm, guests will be introduced to the goats while they are still in a fenced pasture. Once the goats are released, we will follow them in their meanderings while gently leading them to where we want to go (open meadows, woodlands, pond) depending on weather conditions and the state of the terrain. As we shepherd the goats, we will observe what they are choosing to eat and how they are interacting with each other. Guests will learn to listen to their bells to locate them and to call them. Moments of blissful silence will alternate with passionate conversation about what it takes to grow healthy food. The walk can take up to 2 hours depending on the weather and everybody's disposition. You will be participating in the goats' meal plan, so we will set out on time, at 10am. The goats are hungry in the morning!
Pets and Children
Unfortunately, pets are not welcome due to the high level of interaction with the goats. This experience is best suited for children ages 10+.
What to Bring
Please cover your ankles, legs, and arms for protection against brambles, burrs, and bugs. Hiking shoes or boots are best, they are sturdy and will provide good support for the walk. I always encourage bringing a water bottle and a seasonal hat.
Other things to note
The goats travel across all sorts of terrain: up and downhill, through marshes and creeks, in open fields and shady woodlands. The walkabout is at a relaxed pace and will cover around a mile.
Hiking with Goats
A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour recreational and educational goat experience. You'll meet your hosts (and our herd of Alpine dairy goats), and hear about their 16 years of experience with goats and living on a small family farm. Once we've met the goats and the many other animals residents of the farm, we’ll set off on a hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with the goats and Philip our sheep! The hike consists of an approximately one and a half mile loop trail through our woods on lightly groomed trails. Along the way we’ll talk about goats as pack animals, what they eat, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. There's lots of time for interacting with the goats, asking questions, or just soaking in the Maine woods and these adorable, fun animals. We end the experience with fresh goat milk and homemade cookies!
Please note: Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. 5 and 6 year olds should plan to hold a parent's hand during the hike. (Children under 4 must be carried).
Other things to note:
The hike is not strenuous, but there is a little bit of steep terrain in 2 spots. We have rope railings on the trail to assist with getting up and down in those spots, but guests who have bad knees, hips, or other difficulties with uneven or steep terrain should be aware.
German Shepherd Large Pack Hike
Enjoy the true outdoors with an easy 1.5 mile private nature hike hosted by a pack of loose, well trained German Shepherd Dogs. The hike starts at our farm in coastal Maine and wanders through a network of trails winding through a natural wild Maine forest along streams and through meadows. You will be hiking with a large pack of (5 to 12) loose german shepherd dogs of various ages and they will be wanting to engage you to play and have you s or pet them. Along the walk, there will be wooden bridges over streams, soft forest trails, sometimes mud puddles and slippery footing. Throughout our adventure you will learn tips on hiking with a pack and the way they communicate and what their body language means. Once we return there will be bathroom facilities, snacks and beverages. We will also talk about how we raise and imprint our young shepherds and prepare them as family companions or for Show. Your hosts for the nature walk will be either Jennifer, Katie, or all. We began offering pack walks at our open house for our German Shepherd Breeding program, and because of the enthusiasm and popularity, we decided to host this event through Airbnb.
This hike is a carefully selected pack of our own German Shepherds. We do not allow visiting dogs to join on the pack hike. Children under two years old are FREE

Every Site on the Freedom Trail
See all 16 of Boston's Iconic Freedom Trail sites in a single 2.5 hour tour! It all happened at these famous sites along the iconic red brick line.

Harlem history with a community leader
Our experience bridges important time periods together. We begin at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, the premier center of its kind in the world. We'll explore how Africans, forced to leave their homeland, came to both the Caribbean and the Americas through slavery. You will understand how they impacted food, music, popular culture and dance with exhibits, film or sound.
Their struggle made Harlem a center for social movements from the mid 1880s to the present.
We touch on the Trans Atlantic Slave trade, its impact on human relations between American-born citizens and immigrants at that time. We'll delve into the New Negro Movement, which sparked the modern civil rights movement in this country and explore depression-era exhibitions such as the recently restored WPA murals in Harlem Hospital. Together, we’ll discover how we can learn how to heal from the past to move towards a better future.
If you know that you will be in town for several days, book early so I can assist with an itinerary that can include a lindyhop or tap dance class and /or food tasting.
Other things to note
Feel free to bring your own camera to take pictures and dress appropriately for the weather.
Private photo session at Brooklyn Bridge
We will first meet at our agreed location.
After a short introduction, we will persist in the tour. You will walk with me around the remarkable pleases, as I capture some snaps of you (candid and posed).

Ones we finish the session wising 24-48 hours you will receive on your email 30 high resolution retouched photographs.
**If you don't feel comfortable in front of the camera, don't worry. Trust the process. By the end, you will become a professional model :)

Speakeasy and secret bar tour
Established in 2014, me and my team have proudly been the first to operate Speakeasy experiences in NYC. We will take you to 3 completely concealed and hidden establishments. All 3 locations are completely hidden, no obvious bars in between. Some through vault doors with a required code and some that are down an alleys with multiple doors where you would need to know which door to open. Some even have all the drinks still in tea cups in case the police would raid them back in 1920's and was featured in the TV show Boardwalk Empire for its historical accurate decor and atmosphere.
We provide historical facts by history teachers with educational and tour guide licenses. Our facts are solely from cross referenced academic sources. We furthermore work in conjunction NYC City Hall and the NYC Hall of Records to ensure the authenticity of the historical claims by each establishment we visit.
This experience is available in French, Italian, German, Spanish and English. Please make sure to submit a request in a message if you want the experience in a different language. PLEASE do NOT book this is you are landing to the airport the same day after 11 am.
If the experience is fully booked, we also have a website alexstours d0t c0m that offers the same experience and also offer the East Village Speakeasy experience on Airbnb as well.
Curator's Tour of Downtown Galleries
I offer a small-scale, customized walking tour of Lower East Side galleries with an experienced contemporary art curator (me) providing background & context to the artists, galleries & neighborhood.
The 45-block area of narrow, intersecting streets currently represents the cutting edge of the NYC art world, often with artists having their first-ever gallery exhibitions.
I've lived in this neighborhood for 42 years & walked its gnarly streets thousands of times. In fact, one reason I started giving this tour was because out-of-town friends & colleagues kept getting lost trying to find things on their own.
We meet at a well-known art gallery on historic Orchard Street. After a quick intro, we'll follow a mapped tour for 3 hours, visiting as many art galleries as we're collectively comfortable with (LES has more than 100), usually 10-15.
I focus on galleries whose current program I find interesting: D. Eller, Perrotin, M. Abreu, J. Fuentes, bitforms, Magenta Plains, B. Cuningham, R. Uffner, Salon 94, Situations, T. de Nagy, C. Tierney, Downs & Ross, N. Karg, Participant Inc, Fridman, S. Subal, Fierman, Shrine, A. Edlin, Sargent's Daughters, Ashes/Ashes, Bodega, Housing, Lubov, Lyles & King, Shelter, Ulterior, 47 Canal, Bureau and Situations. You get to keep the map as a souvenir.
This is a great opportunity for a small group to experience and talk about new art.
Play with miniature goats
In an hour-long experience, visitors will meet and play with this year's babies. These babies are bonded to humans and will climb all over you. Near the end of the hour, visitors are welcome to visit the rest of the goats and I'll be happy to answer any questions they might have about goat life. And Great Dane puppy, Spock, will be there, too!
WHAT TO EXPECT BY SEASON:
Spring: Babies are brand new, still on the bottle.
Summer: Older babies are weaned and getting a little rowdy.
Fall: The babies are tweens now, getting bigger but still snugglers.
(Don't see a date that works for you? Drop me a message and let's see if we can't make another day work.)
Other things to note:
You will get dirty and covered in animal hair! There will be poop! Babies can get a bit crazy so be prepared for some adorable chaos. This experience is rain or shine.
Hidden Gems, Great Structures, Fun Art

We’ll also see:
• Beautiful bridges that shattered records
• Amazing architecture, from traditional and classic to stunningly modern
• See wonderful public art. Sculptures and murals that range from classic & inspiring to playful & fun

The Soul of Harlem Walking Tour
As a New Yorker, I’ve lived in all 5 Boroughs of NYC. However, my birthplace was Harlem. Thus, I will show you the place that is dear to my heart – the village of Harlem.
This unique soulful walking experience will take place in one of four sections of Harlem - Central Harlem. This section was the Heart and Soul of the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights movement in America.
Our journey will begin with a birds-eye view of 125th Street looking westward – this will give us a photographic preview of some of the locations we will visit. We will then walk to the former homes of the Harlem Renaissance central figures, Langston Hughes, Madam C.J. Walker, James w. Johnson, etc. On this 10,000-step journey, we will pass several Harlem murals that capsulize Harlem’s glorious past. We will also see where Marin Luther King spoke, suffered a near-death experience, and was hospitalized. Two places of special interest will be
explored – the Harlem Jazz Museum (Thurs-Sat only) & the Schomburg Library for African Studies (Mon-Sat). At the Schomburg, we will see a mosaic cosmogram containing the ashes of Langston Hughes underneath it.
To round out our experience, we will walk upon Harlem’s “Walk of Fame;” and see monuments of Civil Rights trailblazers and the famous Sylvia’s Restaurant, named after the “Queen of Soul Food” Sylvia Woods.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and your guests.
