Multnomah Zen, a four waterfall scenic hiking experience
Multnomah Falls and other waterfalls and vistas of the Columbia Gorge are astonishing icons of geology, the sort that have inspired mythology and lore of warriors, gods and passions. We will drive out in our vans to meet the tallest waterfall in the state, and then drive to a few of the shorter but even more stunning ones, too; falls which could only be the daughters and sons of legend. In this half-day experience, we will explore wonders with some short hikes (totaling less than 2.5 miles/4 km) and visits to overlooks and vistas that will have you gasping in awe. While Multnomah Falls and its iconic Benson Bridge are together the most-visited tourist attraction in the Portland area, they are only a part of our experience. We will meet at our shop in inner SE Portland, where we'll ride in our comfortable Sprinter and Transit vans to the nearby gorge. Depending on weather conditions, we will visit a few small hidden waterfalls and spectacular plunge-style falls whose columnar basalt has us learning words for "amazing" in other languages. We'll also tell you stories, geology, botany and oft-repeated tales of pioneers and road-builders, but also the old stories we've learned, of gods and wild spirits and about the oldest North American civilization, forever altered by “manifest destiny." Please note we book directly as well as through AirBNB, and your group may be up to 10.
Enchanted forest hike, greatest hits, six parks & gardens
Here's Airbnb’s #1 "Best of Portland" forest hike and scenic tour - including Forest Park, the "top 10" Pittock Mansion, views of city/rivers/mountains, and the best of Washington Park, too. Walk our famous Wildwood Trail, hug the 242' tallest American city tree, enjoy babbling Balch creek gorge, wild birdsong, step in the Old Stone House, and snap selfies at the summit viewpoint overlooking Portland and Mt Hood. On clear days see 3 Cascade volcanos! ...and that's just the first half! We continue downhill, over the elegant Walker footbridge for more glorious Wildwood trail steps thru Washington Park + Hoyt Arboretum, relax on the Redwood Forest deck benches, inspect exotic trees from around the world, and finish at our famous Japanese Garden and International Rose Test Garden complex (tour on your own if you wish). This 5-mile hike with 900-foot vertical gain is perfect for fitness seekers, will last about 4 hours and can be tailored! Want a 2-hour version? ...at the top grab a Lyft/Uber and skip the 2nd half. Waste no precious vacation time: our trail's start/end are only 3 miles from Portland's center... the best starter experience for your visit! Bring light layers for max comfort. It's a splendid hike in the rain, but bring a raincoat + hat/hood. Comfy walking / running shoes or light hikers are best for our unpaved forest trail. Portland’s #1 hike, since 2018!

This means checking out a neighborhood district, drinking taps from neighborhood breweries, and getting the neighborhood perspective by interacting with someone who lives here! By the end of the walking tour, we’ll have made a mildly-inebriated adventure from seeing why the people of Portland are the attraction of the city. People who find this tour meaningful: 1. People who prefer a Drink, Eat, Drink night rather than a Drink, Drink, Drink night. 2. People who prefer to explore with welcoming friends rather than alone. 3. People who enjoy open-minded discussions and appreciate collecting new perspectives. 4. People with no time to grow roots in the city, but want to know where they'd hang out if they lived here. Bike Around Portland to Culture and Art
Beautiful bikes, beautiful rides, and all our neighborhood secrets. On our tours we'll smell roses (in season), taste treats, ride across bridges, and along rivers; it's the best way to experience the diversity of culture, art, poetry, nature, parks and neighborhoods in Portland. Our approach is to spend more time riding, but lots of time stopping at gardens, art installations, sculptures and poetry beaches. We start in the inner Eastside at our shop at 833 SE Main St #124, where we will fit you for a bike and helmet, ready for an 8-10 mile ride. We head out into Ladd’s Addition, to our fave rose garden, into an art-heavy industrial district, across the sexy Tilikum Bridge, and onto Portland's waterfront. We’ll ride along the water before we head over another bridge back to our shop! Portland is not just a city of seamless bicycle infrastructure and friendly relations between cyclists and motorists, but also a city of poets. Literally, figuratively, our bike ride is a poem; a series of poems; to our city. We'll read poetry written on murals, in sidewalks, and carved in rocks. There is, too, the whirling poetry of wheels on pavement, the sweet suspension of effort that is cycling on the streets and pathways in this place we love. Portland mornings are cool -- bring layers! It rains often in Portland; rain jackets are wise. Minimal bike experience is ok; none, is not.

Discover Portland By Bike Tour
The essential introduction to Portland. We’ll hop on well-traveled bike lanes stopping to admire the views of downtown, the river and the city’s many bridges. Then we ride along the waterfront past the brick and cast iron fronted buildings of Old Town built in the 19th and early 20th century. Next our tour will head into Chinatown where the streets once teemed with immigrants from all over the world. From there we’ll roll through the Pearl District where turn-of-the-century warehouses have been turned into art galleries, shops, restaurants and condos. We’ll pass Henry Weinhard’s 140 year old brewery before heading downtown. The tour cruises past a number of our favorite food carts before entering the South Park Blocks – separated from the North blocks by a century of legal battles. We’ll pedal through Oregon’s largest university then turn downhill to the waterfront and the Willamette River, lifeblood of the city and state. Time permitting, we'll ride into some east side neighborhoods with food carts, gorgeous houses, rose gardens and vibrant shopping districts before crossing the river again. Ebike upgrade, only $20! PLease note in your booking and we'll get you set up. *In order to offer livable wages to our guides, if only 1 person books, a supplement of $20 will be charged upon arrival.

Downtown Portland Coffee & Donut Tour
Come walk around the bustling streets of Downtown Portland with your local guide and discover why Portland is the coffee and donut capital of the world! We'll visit several genuinely local craft coffee houses for an interactive look at different styles and flavors of coffee. Plus we’ll munch on a bunch of locally-made donuts and pastries from shops you can only find right here in Portland. We like to think this the perfect way to discover Downtown Portland, see where locals get their coffee and donut fix, and have fun! Some things you can expect: - At least three different types of coffee and plenty of donuts and pastries at a total of 4-5 different shops. (Reasonable drinking sizes that most coffee drinkers can handle and enjoy.) - Devour several different flavors of classic donuts from a tiny donut shop. - Learn all about coffee and its history, including how coffee's third wave movement started right here in Portland! - Walk around the bustling streets of downtown to discover Portland’s quirkiness and preserved remnants of an historic past. - Learn the technique of brewing the perfect cup of coffee from a barista extraordinaire. - Stand in Pioneer Courthouse Square and learn all about “Portland’s Living Room”. *We do not visit Voodoo or Blue Star during this tour as they are on the common tourist track.
Gorge waterfall hike and bike adventure
Our experience provides the best of its category -- best bicycles, guides, vehicles! We transport our guests and bikes in comfortable vans, and our guides ride with very small groups. We'll visit waterfalls you will not see on other tours. You'll immerse yourself in the temperate rainforest! We tell the stories that need to re-awaken. Beyond the 180 years of pioneers and loggers, before the century-old highway, this was the land of people with a rich mythology. We remember the long history this place holds, and tell these stories as best we can. After we fit you for bikes at our shop in SE Portland, we'll drive out toward adventure. The bike ride and hike both take place in the Columbia River Gorge, the waterfall-laden western end of an 80-mile (130-km) canyon. At a breathtaking vista overlooking the Gorge, we'll take photos, and hear the story of who was here before us. Over the course of the tour, we'll ride 4-6 miles (7-10 km), gentle downhill and some uphill (depending on your group) on a historic highway frequented by cyclists, see four waterfalls including Multnomah Falls, hike about 1.0-2 miles (2-4km) -- all within a 30-40 min drive of the city. The tour is 4-5 hours; you'll remember it for years to come! Please note we book directly as well as through AirBNB, and your overall tour group may be up to 10.
Fragrance Design Workshop
We’ll introduce you to the process and materials that comprise fragrance creation. We'll spend about half the workshop smelling our way through a selection of over 30 raw ingredients, while discussing fragrance and blending techniques. You'll spend the remainder of the workshop developing and blending your own fragrance, with tips and pointers along the way. After this, you'll turn your fragrance into an oil-based roll-on personal fragrance. You’ll take home your very own scent creation compounded and mixed into a 10mL roll-on bottle of perfume. Other things to note: Avoid wearing strong fragrances to this workshop as it may disrupt yours' and others' olfactory experience.

Beginner's glass blowing lessons in North Portland
Ever been interested in trying your hand at blowing glass? Join me in my private borosilicate glass studio for one-on-one instruction on how to make your first piece of glass art! I’m a professional borosilicate glass blower with over 10 years of experience and am offering private classes in my home studio in North Portland. Students will be taught basic glass blowing safety, skills, and will have the opportunity to create 2-3 pieces of glass art in a two-hour beginner’s lesson. Depending on experience, participants will have the chance to create a variety of items including marbles (typical for beginners), small sculptures, or a small glass ornament. If you make a fun marble I'm happy to turn it into a wine bottle stopper for you! Students get to keep any glass they create, and gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a very unique field. *Glass made during lesson will require kilning for durability, which takes a minimum of 4 hours. Most students choose to pick up the glass they made the next day (or at their earliest convenience). Interested in a class for two people? I'm happy to accommodate an extra person but only have one torch set up at a time, so both individuals will take turns blowing glass. In order to make sure you both get adequate time on the torch, I recommend extending class time to about 3 hours. Feel free to message me with any questions.

POP QUIZ: Are you here to absorb authentic Portland culture? BONUS CREDIT: Are you trying to live like a local while you are? Because Portland is a MILLENNIAL PLAYGROUND best understood when explored like someone from here. How do we do that? Here are the locals' favorite pastimes: picking up cannabis from the neighborhood dispensary, grabbing drinks at a cozy cafe, eating plant-based food done right, and sipping crafts at an eclectic bar! So for starters, we'll sniff around a CANNABIS DISPENSARY to kick things off on a high note. Second, we'll sip tea inside a LIVING ROOM CAFE that's been converted from a Pixar-esque residence. Third, we'll grab meals from a VEGAN EATERY featuring meat and cheese alternatives that are as tasty as they are innovative. And lastly, we'll drink beers at a SEVEN STORY BAR that used to be a hidden back room of a live theater. To explore the city like a true Portlander, I’ll be your guide to show you where you’d go and how you’d do it. Walk around Portland to explore its soul
Where has Portland come from, where is it going? Why has it come into national attention? Get introduced to Portland's soul with a walk through the downtown's core, starting with parks and art museums and the decisions that led to what the city looks like today. From cast iron-fronted buildings to the grandly disastrous post-modern Portland Building, much of Portland's history can be told through the buildings and street layouts; most importantly, the prioritization of parks throughout the city center. How did the city's early urban planners decide on their layouts? How do modern designers look at the past and plan for the future? Who are the people these streets are named for? What's with all the roses? It's not a dry history: full of back-room deals, early deaths and greed; and then there were hippies! We won't stop at the history from the books and the museums, but we'll lead you into the present, looking at what brought the city to its modern conflicts, racial justice protests, the tension between Portlanders and their mayor (no matter who holds the office), and how the city has changed to fit the pandemic and the forces which will shape its immediate future. We'd be remiss without letting this lead into food! So we'll end the tour by offering food recommendations in the center city.
Willamette Valley Tour-delicious wine, exquisite countryside
**GROUP DISCOUNT AVAILABLE WHEN BOOKING** Travel in comfort through beautiful Willamette Valley with it's quaint towns and rolling landscape. Depending on the season, you'll see wildflowers blooming, grapes growing, trees blossoming, and leaves changing color. We may also stop at seasonal produce and local craft stands. Lunch is included. Wine tastings can be purchased at each winery and are not included in the tour fee. PLEASE NOTE: Airbnb requires us to provide a specific pick up location, but we can likely pick you up where it is most convenient for you. Let us know where you'd like a pick up. AND let us know if anyone in your group has dietary restrictions or strong food preferences/aversions.
