Welcome to CASA UNIÓN! A place that has hosted artists, artisans, students, and travelers from all over the world over a century.

Beside the spacious Loft, you are welcome to enjoy panoramic views from the roof terrace and an open kitchen surrounded by a gorgeous patio with mango and avocado trees.

It takes a 5 minute walk to get you to the main square of the city, Santo Domingo's church, local markets and most of the main attractions of the city like museums, art galleries and restaurants.

Indawo
The house has been a part of the family for several generations, and it still preserves a lot of it's original architecture: huge adobe walls, high ceilings, and many windows, facing an in-door patio with fruit trees.

It is our joy to share our place and the calm it has to offer for those looking for a simple and pleasant place, with history and future sights.

Ukungena kwesivakashi
Housekeeping service every third day.
All our guests are welcome to enjoy the patio and corridors and take a breath-taking sight of the city at sunset.

Ezinye izinto okumele ziqashelwe
Our house is very old, so it cannot offer the comfort of a brand-new, nature- isolated buildings; It could happen that one morning you find that an ant -or a couple of them- found their way from the patio to your sugar bowl; we refuse to exterminate all moving beings from our garden, and we hope that our guests will understand why we prefer it that way. And even enjoy it!

There is a primary school across the street from the loft, so, if you are looking forward to sleep-in until late, you may want to look for another option. Every morning, at 8 am, there is a bell to announce the beginning of the classes; after that, there is not much more to hear, but you should know the bell and the children's screaming may wake you up every morning. We just don't want to give yo any unpleasant surprises.

Oaxaca, i-Mexico

We are located at "El Peñasco" -"the crag"- neighborhood, at the foot of the Cerro del Fortín (where the traditional Guelaguetza is celebrated). Traditionally, this was a bakers and carpenters neighborhood. Now days, there are still a couple of baker shops, which offer their specialty: yoke bread. This is one of the last corners of the center that still keeps its conviviality, and the "barrio" living. A few blocks from the house, you can find the market, where you'll find fresh and local products; there are also various simple but excellent food stands, little grocery stores, a pharmacy, a laundry and many other daily life-musts. In the evenings, you can walk down a block to enjoy a oaxacan specialty at La Soledad: ice cream; made with real fruit and/or many unimaginable ingredients -like mezcal, for example-. You can also let yourself breath in the evening life that takes place at the Plaza de la Danza, where children play, friends gather and many free concerts and events take place.

Mi casa y yo hemos crecido juntas, y siento que somos parte la una de la otra. Aunque me encanta viajar, y tengo pedazos de mí en varios rincones del mundo, la marea siempre me trae de vuelta a Oaxaca. Y aquí me encuentro feliz. Soy madre, cantante y compositora .

I have been working in cultural tourism in the state of Oaxaca for over 10 years now. Ask me! I will be very happy to share some -great- recommendations, in and outside the city with you. If you are interested, we can plan on a guided tour or a day-trip to see something of your particular interest (gastronomy, handicrafts, music, biology, traditional healing...you name it! There is plenty to be marveled about in Oaxaca!)
