UNPLUG in a one room cabin tucked in the hills of West Virginia. Perfect for hard-core "glampers" who love the woods but appreciate basic amenities. Quiet, remote, simple, rustic. No electric or running water. Clean outhouse. We take you up the hill, give a short orientation & you're on your own, with plenty of privacy, great views and miles of wildlife & walking trails!! Read all info. Check-In before dark. SAVE detailed directions. GPS will get you lost and cell service is spotty.

Indawo
By "remote," we mean, "off-road." To avoid damaging your car on the way up the steep, rocky hill, we'll meet you at the bottom (where you can park it safely) and we'll take you up in our truck. At the end of your stay, you can get a ride, walk down with your stuff, or we'll take it for you and you can hike it down hands-free. Whatever works best for you.

If the forecast looks like road conditions will be impossible for us to get you up or down the hill with the truck or 4-wheeler (ATV), and you're still hooked on the cabin-idea, we're happy to lead you on the short hike to it. Otherwise, we invite you to check out our other 2 listings, "Quaint Farmhouse in the hills," or "the Crash Pad." Both have easy vehicle access for any weather, and we can discuss a comparable price.

Although you may not be able to see your human neighbors for the hills and trees, you still have them around you. We are a tight knit community with some related families. Everyone is extremely helpful, most are friendly and polite about it. All your closest neighbors are furry, feathery or scaly.

My partner, Bill, and I moved to West Virginia in 2000. We love its quiet beauty and simplified life, and want to give others the opportunity to experience the same. Besides airbnb guests, we host retreatants, and college groups who come from all over the country for their spring and fall breaks. With the students, we do service projects for the poor and elderly in our community and give them a taste of Appalachian culture. More than that, they learn first-hand how extractive industries (coal, gas, oil, timber) and their own energy consumption cause the social, environmental and economic issues of this "poverty pocket" of a America. By the end of their time here, they're a little wiser, living more simply, and ready to make a difference back home. Hosting you helps us continue to educate, advocate and contemplate in these ancient hills. To learn more, look up Appalachian Catholic Worker.
