It's a typical old Portuguese house, with two floors, almost divided in two parts..the oldest part is the original house, has the living room downstairs and my rooms upstairs. The other part was built later, and has the kitchen and bathroom (both shared with me) downstairs, and the guestroom upstairs. The house has exposed beams (like an old English cottage) and a lovely, cosy feeling to it... I have painted it in warm colours, to resemble sunlight in the summer, and firelight in the winter.

Indawo
The spacious room sleeps 3, and is perfect for a couple (with or without a child), or 3 good friends! (10euro extra for making up the extra bed)
The house is 5 minutes from one of the best beaches in Portugal, at the edge of a rural village, with restaurants, bars & shops.
The surrounding nature invites for long walks, as there are infinite amounts of sights of interest to visit, for instance the lighthouse at Cabo da Roca (around 3 km away) which is the most Western Point of mainland Europe, and of course the many palaces, castles and monasteries dotted around the Sintra Mountain...too much to chose from, to mention here!
The beaches are all perfect for various watersports... surfing, body board, kite surf, windsurf, diving & spearfishing are all popular sports amongst the people here, and if you would like to try something new, it can be arranged easily.
For the more relaxed holidaymakers, there are of course many less strenuous activities to enjoy, for instance nature walks on the cliffs above the coastline, walking either North (where you can see 120 million year old dinosaur-footprints near Praia Grande!) or walking South (where you can reach the "wild" beach, Praia da Ursa, and Cabo da Roca itself, and get a certificate to prove you were at the most Western Point!): or you can go shopping in "Forum",Sintra, the newly built & biggest shopping center in Portugal, or in nearby Cascais (Portugal's richest area, therefore lots of shops!), dining out on delicious freshly caught seafood, sunbathing or barbecue on the beach...or just relaxing on the terrace with a glass of good Local Portuguese wine...
Welcome!

Close to magical Sintra, and 40 minutes from Lisbon

Guests are welcome to all of the house, except my private bedroom upstairs.

Ezinye izinto okumele ziqashelwe
Please note that this is an OLD house. Guests who prefer to stay in modern, minimalistic accommodation, with shiny surfaces and stainless steel kitchen, please book somewhere else. Also if you don't like dogs or are very afraid, this is also not the place for you... My two lovely dogs are my family-members ,and they do sleep inside the house at night, and there IS dog-hair to be seen from time to time (it is impossible to avoid unless you follow the dog constantly with a hoover). For most of my guests, the dogs (and I have a cat too!) are an added bonus to their stay here, as most love to give and receive cuddles with our furry friends...
As from 1.March every guest will have to pay €1 Tourist Tax per night for the first 3 nights. This will be payable to me in cash, on arrival. I have to then pay it to the Sintra Tourist Council every 3 months.

I am from Denmark, lived in England for 20 years where I was self-employed, running a small alternative fashion shop selling clothes, music etc. Moved to Portugal in 2007, first travelling around the country in my van, discovering the best parts, and now living in Almocageme, in the "foothills of the Mountain of the Moon", where me & my 2 dogs feel at home... We love to go walking or running in the beautiful nature aound here, and spend several hours every day, doing just that!
