We are in the Black Hills, a few miles from Mt Rushmore, and tourist activities. 45 miles to Rapid City Airport. The Black Hills is mainly forest and mountains with lots of hiking trails, horse-back riding, rock climbing, and rock hounding.
located on 26 private acres, for hiking, walking, three miles from town. rock shop on property. Pets allowed on leash place is good for anyone. We also have a guest house, an apartment that sleeps four, 2 RV pads with full hook-ups and tent sites too.

We have two bedrooms available. If both are rented they share a bathroom. Bathroom has whirlpool tub and full sized shower. We have a sauna and treadmill available for guests. Guests are welcome to use our deck and patio, gas grill, mountaintop deck, and children's playground. There is a door from the outside that leads right to the bedrooms without having to go through living spaces.

We are 3 miles from Custer. The last 1/4 mile of our road is gravel. Custer is a tourist town of about 3000 population. In the summer it is alive and active. In the winter it is like any small town. Custer has a variety of eating places, breweries, wineries, rock shops, specialty shops, and a wonderful grocery store. There is a golf course and several parks in town. We are within 5 miles of MT Rushmore National Monument and Crazy Horse Monument and close to Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, Deadwood SD, Spearfish Canyon, Mammoth Site, and many other attractions. We are 43 miles from Rapid City South Dakota--a major city with air connections. Custer has a hospital and clinic as well as all other services.

My husband Marvin and I have been hosting folks at our home for over 10 years. We have been in the Black Hills for over 20 years, finishing our home 10 years ago. We designed and built our dreamhome and love the area and our few acres. Marvin is a retired farmer/rancher and carpenter. I recently retired from the ministry of the United Methodist Church. We go rock hunting and have a rock shop here at our home. We enjoy gardening and taking care of our little piece of paradise. I love books and read a lot, also knit and make jewelry. Marvin cuts wood to keep us warm in the winter and continues to make furniture and gifts from wood. As hosts we have enjoyed meeting people from all around the world. Lots of good visits around the dining room or patio tables. We travel often with our RV and often to hunt for rocks.
