The most popular tourist spots that represent Nara are just around the corner!

---Nara Park---

There are over 1000 deer in "Nara Park", which covers a large site area, and they are all considered wild yet approachable! It is not held against its will at all, as it is deeply protected by the angels of God.

When sightseeing, please try purchasing some deer senbei (deer snacks) at the stores around the area. The deer will gather in an instant fighting for the first bite! It is a very unusual experience and you can also feel a little popular when they start surrounding you! . Avoid scaring them or going deep into their territory by yourself though!

--- Todai-ji Temple ---

"Todai-ji Temple" and "Big Buddha of Nara" are the most popular tourist spots in Nara. "Todai-ji Temple" is a temple of Kegon (a sect of Buddhism) Daihonzan (head temple of a Buddhist sect). In 1998, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the cultural property of the ancient capital Nara.

It was built in 758 in the Nara period, but disappeared twice because of wartime fires. The present building was built in 1709 of the Edo period. About 49 meters in height to the ridge and about 50 meters in depth, almost similar to what it was at the time of foundation. However, the width is about 58 meters, about 2/3 the size of the original.

--- Kofukuji ---

Kofuku-ji is a temple with a famous Asura statue (Demi-god) that you want to see even if you are not a fan of Buddhism. There are also over 100 national treasures and important cultural properties, and it is a tourist attraction known as a treasure trove of Buddhist culture, including the Buddha statue.

The history of Kofuku-ji is old, and it is believed that Fujiwara No Kamatari built the Buddha statue around 645. When the city was transferred to Heijokyo in 710, it moved from Hicho to the present location, and the name of Kofuku-ji Temple was decided during this time. Kofuku-ji was the temple of Mr. Fujiwara, and at that time was of a great power.

Kofuku-ji Temple is a symbol of Nara. Don't forget to take lots of photos when sightseeing!

--- Heijō Palace Remains ---

During the Nara period, the capital of Japan was Heijo-kyo. Heijo Shrine was at the center of, where the emperor's palace and the government office were located. "Heijō Palace Remains" is currently maintained as a green park, and it is a tourist attraction registered as a World Heritage Site since 1998 as one of the "Cultural Properties of the Old Town Nara".

It can be said that it is the best historical space to learn what kind of life the emperor and nobles were living at the time. Why don't you go there and imagine the life of an ancient city yourself while sightseeing the vast Heijō Palace Remains?
