An authentic log cabin built 150 years ago, the Per and Anne Paulson Cabin is a step back in time! Part of the Norskedalen's Nature & Heritage Center, experience the beauty of Wisconsin, the history of those who settled this area, and the comforts of home.

The Paulson Cabin is a completely unique experience, often described as a "Little House on the Prairie with modern plumbing and kitchen" cabin. With complete access to Norskedalen grounds, it is indeed the perfect place to relax and unwind!

The main sleeping area is on the second level, containing a double bed and a single bed. The main common area has two queen size futons, both of which are available for additional sleeping space. Linens for the futons are available in a container under the stairs.

Please note that this is an authentic cabin built and lived in during the 1800's. Staircases to the basement and second level are quite steep.

Norskedalen has been built by volunteers over the past 40 years who believe that remembering their heritage is the best way to pave the road to the future. Since Norskedalen is not about me, but about those who built it and those who will keep it growing, what I share with you here is reflective of Norskedalen and it's members.

Buildings were moved to Norskedalen from a variety of surrounding farms. Each of the buildings were lived in and/or used within 10 miles of where they now stand. The Homestead is built in traditional Norwegian style of a 'tun', or U shape. A tobacco barn resides at the top of the hill behind the homestead, reflecting the significance of the tobacco farms in this area. All of this work was done by volunteers on weekends and evenings, with no paid staff, no budget, no funding. Just the belief that preserving the history of this area is important for the future. Tremendous friendships have been built during the building of Norskedalen!

The Paulson Cabin was built in the 1840's. The kitchen and basement were added to make it modern, but otherwise what you see in the living room and upper level is what the Paulson family lived in.
