Excellent bath, beach towels and hair dryers, all provided.

There is a comfortable open plan living room with a dining table and chairs for 6 people leading through to a comfortably furnished sea view lounge and glass sliders to the gardens Patio . For your convenience too is a fully equipped kitchen with modern oven, ceramic stove top, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and convection microwave. A fish smoker, wok and all quality kitchen equipment is provided along with a selection of condiments, oil, tea/coffee, biscuits, milk etc.

The Apartment, all on the ground level entrance, is accessed from a courtyard adjacent to the undercover parking area. (Easy access accommodation for the not so mobile)! Both bedrooms also have private entrances through the glass sliding doors to furnished Patios, and, external bathroom doors. The bedrooms are also connected by an internal passageway to your spacious lounge/dining area.

A large family sized BBQ with its own dining deck overlooks the swimming pool. Gas, utensils, crockery and oil are provided. There is a shade sail over the alfresco dining area to protect you from the scorching Summer sun during the day.

Our North Eastern aspect on Moreton Bay, facing towards North Stradbroke Island, means that Summer's prevailing South Easterly Sea breezes also cool you on hot days and keep the midgies away. Temperatures here are always a few degrees warmer in Winter and Cooler in Summer compared with Brisbane.

The whole of this private and spacious apartment provides your totally independent holiday. You would not share your apartment with anyone else - it is for your exclusive use.

You would have as much, or, as little contact with the unobtrusive but helpful owners who live totally separately in their own apartment with a separate entrance and orchard garden, upstairs and away from your accommodation. Yvonne and Trevor would maintain the grounds and pool and of course be happy to provide information and services e.g. suggested walking/bike riding maps as requested.

Our "Sundowner Bar" stocks a pleasant selection of wines at reasonable prices, or, of course you can BYO. You would be welcome to join us there for complimentary 'Sundowner' wines at 5.30pm - please also let us know.

To eat out, the island offers Club Macleay (the RSL/Bowls Club) and M.I.Golf Clubs, both with Bistro restaurants. Both offer courtesy transport. Our excellent local Fish and Chinese Eatery/Takeaway, and The Scorpion Cafe are a 5 minutes walk - 300 metres away. The former seasonally supplies great fresh fish, oysters and crabs from the bay. There are also Mamma's Pizzas & Spare Ribs etc., takeaway options, The Blue Parrott Cafe for lunchtime meals and coffee is 3.5kms away, near the Jetty where you arrive.

Enjoy all we offer - the tranquility, scenery, the pool, double spas, the absolutely most comfortable beds, or perhaps, book the "Sundowner Bar" and its Deck of an evening, just let us know in advance. A complimentary linen changeover is done every 5th day, and, we will happily do any washing you need done during your stay for a small charge. NB. a new Laundry being installed...

Macleay Island is one of four in the Southern Moreton Bay Islands Marine Park, located only 15 minutes by fast public transport ferries from Redland Bay, which is only a 45 minute car ride into Brisbane. Redland Bay is well served by public transport buses to Brisbane and surrounding suburbs.

These islands are almost a trip back in time to 'the way things were'! They are undeveloped, unsophisticated, and unspoiled. This is a mainly natural bush environment with most attractive beach homes around the coast line and unpretentious cottages/homes or 'Weekenders' in the bushy interior. Many of the roads are unsealed and not lit at night. The star lit Milky Way is unbelievably bright at night! And, oh the Moon rising and Sunsets over the bay are fantastic!

Macleay Island Holiday Home is situated on a private East Coast acreage beachfront looking out to North Stradbroke Island. Our neighbourhood is all acreage. It is so quiet and peaceful but for the birdlife which is wonderful - over 250 species of native birds! In Perulpa Bay which we overlook, are many species of marine life, including dolphin, dugong, turtle, stingray, mud crab, sand crabs, and good eating fish for those who yearn to toss in a line.( Perulpa Bay is a sea grass feeding ground for the shy and endangered Dugong). No license is required to fish here.

Macleay Island has a population of around 2 700 people, is 6.5kms long and only 1km wide. It is hilly in some parts but can comfortably be traversed by bicycles. The Western side of the Island is extremely hot in Summer whereas those seeking a gentle cooling sea breeze for relief from Brisbane's heat, love our Eastern aspect.

There are two Supermarkets, a Chemist, Dentist, Doctors, a 'basic' Pub and importantly excellent Lawn Bowls and 9 hole golf clubs, Boat clubs, Art and Potters clubs and Art Gallery, several real Estate offices, Hardware, garden and boating supplies, Pizza and Fish Takeaways and The Blue Parrot Cafe.

People of Macleay are very friendly and welcome visitors. Dress is mainly informal, however smarter clothing is required to enter the Clubs for Bistro dining.

We live separately in our own apartment on upper floor with our own separate entrance and orchard garden, away from our guests' accommodation. We maintain the pool and gardens. We do NOT share your amenities. When the holiday home is booked, we may visit our Mainland family and friends. On the other hand, we can be easily accessed for information, help and for conversations. Yes, we enjoy 'having a chat' if we are invited! Sometimes guests enjoy joining us and socializing at our "Sundowner Bar" on the upstairs Dining Deck...
