Plentiful windows drench my roomy rancher with natural light. It's furnished in warm transitional wood tones and accented with a cultural flair. Centrally located in the heart of one of the city's historic districts, it's close to downtown, shopping, colleges, local and state parks, and entertainment venues. The quiet, tree-lined neighborhood, off-street parking, private room, relaxing deck, and complimentary coffee and tea make this your favorite "home away from home" in central Louisiana!

Indawo
My place is great for a single traveler or, along with my companion accommodation, small families with older children visiting the Alexandria area for business, pleasure, study, reunions, holidays, church meetings, or conferences. The private room sleeps one or two, with a comfortable daybed for the solo traveler and a convenient trundle bed for a companion.

Ukungena kwesivakashi
Make yourself at home in the living room and kitchen in addition to your private bedroom and the guest bath. Wi-fi connection is available as well as basic cable with Chrome and Roku streaming. Help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea in the kitchen, there is room in the fridge for your snacks, and please enjoy relaxing on the deck overlooking the back yard!

Ezinye izinto okumele ziqashelwe
I expect my guests to behave with the civility and trustworthiness of family friends. My home is not child-proofed. Parents agree to mind their children vigilantly indoors and out. Please keep common and shared spaces tidy. Sorry, no smoking or pets.

Alexandria, Louisiana, United States

Karen’s home is located in Alexandria, Louisiana, United States.
Ours is a quiet, diverse neighborhood with a mix of young families, midlife adults, and retirees. My neighbors and I enjoy morning or evening walks, jogs, or biking along the tree-lined streets, and the plentiful gardens are even more beautiful when the azaleas, crape myrtles, or camellias are in bloom!

Developed after World War II, the Alexandria Post-War Suburbs Historic District is noted for its concentration of Ranch, Contemporary, and Wrightian residential architecture, with most homes constructed from 1945 to 1963. It was added to the National Register in 2014.

Adjacent to the historic Alexandria Garden District, the two communities enjoy several joint, seasonal events, including a Holiday Parade of Homes, a Community-Wide Yard Sale, a mini Mardi Gras parade, among others. When you visit, feel free to join our neighborhood running club for one of their weekly runs, or enjoy a meal at one of our popular neighborhood restaurants, serving great Louisiana cuisine and live music, to boot!

I enjoy good friends, good books, good jazz, good films, good conversation, and a well-turned phrase. A native of New Orleans, I have lived in several U.S. regions and traveled to Africa twice (Nigeria, Ghana). I enjoy the cultural, performing, creative, and fine arts and love acting on stage or singing at a microphone backed by a jazz combo. I write and can cook up a mean pot of New Orleans red beans! As a host, you will find me friendly, resourceful, and attentive to your comfort.
