Indawo
This off grid cabin is located on 125 acres of private land that is gated and backs up to Pisgah National Forest. It is 4 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway and to the top of Mount Pisgah. It is close to all of our favorite hiking spots and swimming holes on the Blue Ridge Parkway! An easy 25 minute drive to Asheville and all of it's amazing food and breweries. The cabin is 100% off the grid: that means solar panels for limited electricity needs, propane heaters help keep the cabin cozy during the winter, and an outdoor shower and outhouse. Enjoy our 3 burner propane cook top for cooking, granite countertops, a sink with a water dispenser for drinking water, board games and a very comfortable queen size bed. Lounge in the giant hammock under the trees.

Due to Corona virus- We are requesting that guests bring their own Queen sized sheets, pillows, blankets and towels. We are spending extra time disinfecting the space with a bleach solution between guests.

We provide a solar shower that can be used year around in the outdoor shower. During the summer we attempt to keep our rainwater shower running, but it's temperamental so consider it a bonus if it works during your stay! We also provide a list of other places to shower if you are staying for a longer period of time and crave a long shower or it is too cold to shower outdoors.

The cabin has mountain views through the trees and is tucked back in the woods on a flat gravel road that you will have to walk on to get to the house. You will stop and park near the out house. We provide a wagon to help get your things to the cabin. The outhouse is about 150 yards from the cabin with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out through the tree tops...definitely the best view you have ever seen from an outhouse! The outhouse is cleaned out weekly on Mondays sometime between 8-11 am by a service truck.

Our Goal Zero solar generator provides limited electricity to run the solar lights inside the cabin. If it has been cloudy, then the solar generator may not get charged enough to run the lights. We try to keep lanterns and flashlights around as back ups...but it's best if you bring along your own incase the solar generator runs out of power. We do have a back up solar generator that we keep charged in case it stays cloudy for days so please let us know if you need it.

Bring some wood and make s'mores in our fire pit!

Bring a cooler for your perishables since we do not have a fridge.

We love all dogs of any size and welcome them to come on vacation with you! They will need to be left in crates if left indoors while you are out adventuring in town. Bring dog beds along for them. We are happy to be able to provide a dog friendly space since we too are dog owners and lovers....we just request you clean up after them, relocate their poops to the woods, and be sure to sweep up their extra dog hair before you leave.

Ukungena kwesivakashi
Our favorite hiking and swimming holes are near the cabin on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Check out Black Balsam, Graveyard fields, Mount Pisgah, Skinny dip falls, Devils Courthouse and just hiking the Mountain to Sea trail (marked by a white dot). They often close the parkway for snow/ice conditions during the winter so be sure to check on road closure information before visiting. Even if the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed, you can drive up to it and park at the end of the road getting to it and hike up or down the Mountain to Sea trail! It's actually a great time to be up there since there are no people or cars! Both ways lead to breath taking views.

Near the cabin, there is a great hike off of Chestnut Creek Road that we enjoy hiking along the creek and letting our dogs play in the water.

PLEASE NOTE BEFORE YOU BOOK

Bring your own pillows, Queen size sheets, blankets or sleeping bags.

We provide a solar shower. It can be used year around in the outdoor shower (weather permitting!). Extra water is provided when requested. Be sure to bring your towel! We attempt to keep the off grid rain water collection shower up and running in the summer months, but we cannot guarantee it will be operational during your stay due to its complexities being off grid. Other shower alternatives will be listed in the house manual.

This is a hike in/hike out to the cabin, so you will need to pack your belongings with the understanding that you will have to carry your things 150 yards down a road. We have a wagon there to help you get your things to the cabin. There is no refridgerator so please remember to bring a cooler and ice along with you. Don't forget to bring firewood.

I was born and raised in Asheville. I lived in California for 10 years to go to school and work a little and then I got smart and moved back home to Asheville to practice dentistry with my father. My fiancé and I love camping, biking, running, working on our farm, playing at the lake, and going on backpacking adventures. We are foodies and have eaten just about everywhere in Asheville so if you need advice on where to go, we are pretty hip to what's good. We have five Airbnb rentals. Three of them are off grid glamping cabins on our 125 acre tract of land that backs up to Pisgah National Forest just outside of Asheville. We have another creek side cabin in the same area that is a normal home with WiFi bumper pool and a wood burning stove. One rental is at Edisto Beach in South Carolina, which is one of the last non-commercialized beaches left on the coast. I have been told that Airbnb is my hobby and I have to admit that they are right! I love dreaming up ideas for cabins and spaces. It’s been so fun for me to do and I’ve loved getting to see people enjoy my places.
