This spacious & tranquil beach house, is set in a natural garden oasis 10 mins walk to Shela beach. Brian's Beach House is where you can relax away from it all. The house is on a rise just back from the shoreline. It has 2 apartments, upstairs & downstairs, + our NEW 'The Boathouse' ~check all listings. The Upstairs Apt has 2 King bed ensuite rooms opening onto a breezy open veranda with sea glimpses. Full kitchen, living & dining areas & daily cleaning service make for a perfect Lamu holiday.

Brian's Beach House is perfect for friends and families to share. The Upstairs Apartment has an open-plan kitchen and dining area on the veranda, two double room with king-size bed and both ensuite.
Both rooms have mosquito nets and ceiling fans.

*The house can also be booked as a whole house that sleeps 8. We also have a new Boathouse room. Please contact me for options.*

Brian's Beach House is on the leafy edge of Shela Village, and Shela is on the edge of what we all love about Lamu, the long beach, 12 kms of beach, skirted by sand dunes and almost deserted. Dhows (sailing boats) are the traditional mode of transport, great for fishing, snorkelling and especially for sailing as the sun sets - this is great fun, pack a few drinks and some snacks.
Motorised boats plus windsurfing, kayaking, are available locally.
Beach side restaurants and cafes dot the village, and you will find a fantastic bar and restaurant at Peponi Hotel or Kijani.
Try some of the local fare of Mandazi from the morning street side bakeries for breakfast, chai in the afternoon at the cafe on the Sea Souk with a sweet treat of sim sim or labania.
Shopping in the village is great, stop by Aman and visit all the other shops in the square.

Born & raised in Kenya, I have been holidaying in Lamu since I was a small boy. My father Brian loved Lamu and bought a beach house in Shela in the sixties. I have recently renovated this beautiful house to share with my family, friends and guests. I live in Sydney with my partner and children and we regularly come back to Kenya for holidays.

Ali is our housekeeper. He will meet you, show you to the house and keep the house organised. He can help with laundry, cooking and shopping (additional charges apply). We will make the bed, raise and lower the mosquito nets, change the towels, we can bring you morning tea on your veranda if you arrange it with him. We can help with arranging airport transfers, excursions, such as sunset dhow-trips etc.
There are food shops in Shela & Lamu town, If you plan to cook your own meals. We offer a 'shopping service' so that you don't have to haggle or have the hassle. Just give him a float, mention what you want and he will source it. He will then keep account of this and let you know if/when he runs out. You may also choose to eat out, there are plenty of options. Or hire a cook, we have a " Chef Service" on a daily rate or by the meal. (It includes the shop for you).
Please consider leaving a tip upon departure commensurate with the help provided.
Note that the food available in Shela is quite limited. You'll find all the basics, tea, coffee, bread, pasta, rice, vegetables, fruit, eggs, fish and seafood in the local shops but we recommend that you bring your own alcohol, bacon, sausages, red meat, butter, cheese, treats or special foods.
