The Rusty Box sits atop our home, just two minutes walk to the beach. Views to the hills in the west, Broken Head to the south and a leafy canopy to the east. Fully self contained, with thick carpeted bedroom area, and a huge ensuite, ceiling fans and fully functioning kitchen. Decorative timber screens separate the kitchen from the sleeping area, with curtains to block out or filter the morning sun. Well insulated, you'll feel secluded and private, just 150m to Tallows beach.

Indawo
The timber gate lets you into the entry and your own front door. Stairs up to the apartment are inside, and there's patio looking over the garden. The kitchen has full sized upright stove, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. An oil heater is stored in the cupboard, ceiling fans, and a smart tv and speakers for wifi. The neighbourhood is exceptionally quiet, with rarely any noise after 9pm - usually just the sea! We are on flat land, with lots of native birds in the neighbourhood, and the beach just 150m walk away.

Ukungena kwesivakashi
We have an old school timber fuelled BBQ just near the entry which you are welcome to use. Parking is right outside on the street, and you are welcome to store bikes/boards inside the entry courtyard.

Ezinye izinto okumele ziqashelwe
We are an active couple - surfing, cycling, walking our dogs daily ( we have two dogs and a cat who joins us on our morning walks), yoga, and playing tennis, so sometimes we won't be here at your exact time of arrival. The dogs are kept in our yard but don't have access to your entry area or the apartment. You will often find us in the garden too, and we try to keep all the vegetation under control!

Suffolk Park, New South Wales, i-Australia

Suffolk Park (beachside) is a small village on the beachside of the road between Byron Bay and Broken Head. We live 150m from the beach, and the area is flat - so good for easy walking. Within walking distance we have almost everything we need (except for a dentist , but he's only 5 minutes up the road). A brimming full local supermarket, (legendary) bakery with great coffee, pharmacy, GP, physio, podiatrist, gym and post office. Then there's the food - pizza, fish and chips, indian, mexican, and of course the pub and bottle shop. Out neighbourhood is exceptionally quiet, with most lights gone by 9pm, just so you can listen to the ocean. Heaps of birdlife, and you can often catch sight of a wallaby near the beach tracks in the mornings. Broken Head is about a 20 minute along the beach to the south, and you can almost reach the bottom of the lighthouse walking north up the beach for about an hour.

We're from Brisbane, Australia, have three grown daughters, all well travelled. Mike and I are both no longer working for the man, having had our own businesses for most of our lives. Travelling recently has been by motorbike, both in Europe and Australia. Walking and camping have been the family style of holidays, and we have backpacked as a family many places around the world. We also love reading, music and conversation. Meeting fellow travellers gives us a great sharing experience and often stories are valuable resources for future trips. We have a Cairn terrier (the busiest dog we know), a Kelpie (Red Dog) and an adopted rag doll cat, and, they are best mates. Our daughters all live close by and are pursuing their careers. They are available if we are out of town. Mike surfs, kite surfs, bicycles and motorcycles and has many timber craft projects always waiting to be completed upon our return from trips. I love reading, travelling, encouraging the garden to produce some food, playing tennis, trail walking, cooking, and chatting over a wine (or beer depending on the heat of the day!) We shop fresh almost each day and can give you loads of info regarding the best places locally to source great fresh food too!

Phakathi nokuhlala kwakho
Mike and I are generally both here to meet you, but if we will not be available when you arrive, we always make an arrangement with details, and will certainly catch up with you during your stay. We spend time in the garden or with our dogs, so are easily accessible.
