Ardvergnish Cottage is a stunningly remote place to escape to on the beautiful Isle of Mull. A haven for wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers, you only have to step outside the door to see hen harriers, curlews, and sea eagles. The deer go down past the house in the evening to feed on the marsh, joining the otters who live there. It is centrally located for exploring the island in every direction.

Indawo
Set in a stunning location at the foot of Ben More, the Island's sole Munro, Ardvergnish Cottage is an ideal base for walkers, holidaymakers, birdwatchers and wild swimmers.

This cosy cottage has been refurbished to a high standard in 2018 and is warmed by efficient electric heating. There is a balcony room with a super-king bed, and downstairs a small twin room & bath/shower room. The kitchen is very well equipped, and leads to a spacious sitting/dining room. There is a porch, a private outdoor area with a bbq and picnic table and parking on site. Check our I-gram page ardvergnish_cottage!

The cottage is a private extension to a family holiday house (often empty out of summer season). It has a lovely view up Glen More where deer can often be spotted grazing. The estuary to Loch Beg lies below the house and the Loch is a 10 minute walk, where otters and hen harriers are regularly seen.

We love having dogs to stay (maximum 2), but we hope you'll understand we have to charge a small one off fee of £15 to make up for the extra time it takes to clean. Please do not allow them on the furniture or beds, and do not leave them unsupervised in the house. We can provide a big dog cage, or they can be left in the porch.

We have just added a porch to the front of the house (Feb 2019) which is perfect for muddy boots and drying soggy dogs before they come into the house.

Wonderful day trips include:
- Climb Ben More, a Munro, starting at sea level beside the house. On a clear day at the summit you have an incredible view of the Hebrides.
- Hop across to the spiritual island of Iona, to see the ancient Abbey.
- Jolly Tobermory with its multi-coloured houses, excellent shops and the superb Café Fish restaurant. Or eat fish & chips from the famous stall on the pier with stunning views across the harbour. Visit Isle of Mull Cheese and buy biscuits made by the Island Bakery up the hill.
- Take a boat out to see Fingal’s Cave on Staffa and to the Treshnish Isles in early summer to see puffins, guillemots and Cormorants nesting amongst primroses and bluebells.
- Visit the stunning beaches on the Ross of Mull (see photo above of Knockvologan)
- Walk along rocky shores with wild goats to Mackinnons Cave or the Carsaig arches
- Take safari trips with local firms to see the wildlife
- Sea fishing trips can be arranged from Tobermory, or trout fishing on lochs.

Mull is a birdwatcher’s paradise with numerous raptors and seabirds including the re-introduced white-tailed or sea eagle. Hen and Marsh harriers and Short Eared Owls hunt the marsh in front of the house, curlews and cuckoos nest in the hills behind and deer come down to graze on the saltmarsh at dusk. Puffins and guillemots nest on outlying islands. Otters are seen all along the coast.
