This home is almost 100 years old and in a state of continuous improvement. Aka: it’s a fixer upper. It’s not perfect, but each time we host guests, we improve the space a little more and add amenities. It is plenty spacious and in a prime area for exploring the nearby park systems. We are four miles from the CVNP and situated ideally between both Cleveland and Akron. I live here with my three little girls and our friendly boxer mix. We’d love to have you stay!

Indawo
The home is 3400 sq ft with extra parlors and attic spaces. It was built in 1922, and a Georgian colonial. It sat vacant for six years before I moved in three years ago, so we have worked slowly at making it charming again. The home sits on five acres with a creek along the back, a cemetery to the east, and a neighbors pond to the west. There barn is used as an industrial space for HVAC, so please excuse the materials near the barn. The home has five bedrooms and five baths. I have listed the space on the third floor, but currently allow guests to choose the second floor if it is more suitable as I am working on all spaces periodically. The kitchen is equipped for a family, and we have taken over the living room with our set up for distance learning, but there is plenty of space to spread out, so you are welcome to find a nook that works for you for a sitting area or workspace while you’re here. Please excuse that my family uses the spaces you might be sharing, so please be understanding of that since they are young. We are very flexible and happy to host, so if you need something or have a question, please message me! I hope we have prepared well for your stay, but I am new and I’m happy to accommodate you reasonably.

Terra Vista Nature Study Area: Walk all the way up the hill to a pond and cemetery. Not really a hike, but a quick trip and very peaceful.
Tinker’s Creek Tavern is right up the street from Terra Vista. Great outdoor seating literally right on the creek and great salads!
You can catch the Towpath near Tinker’s creek and Terra Vista at multiple trailheads along the way if you make a right pulling out of my driveway.. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park has a visitor center right around there. You will see signs. However, south of there is another few trailheads. One of which is in Peninsula. Peninsula is a very welcoming area for hikers and bikers. Catching the trails may be more fun in the Peninsula area, but its more crowded. In the area is a Winking Lizard which is popular in NE Ohio. Behind the Winking Lizard is a fantastic visitor center for the National Park. They will have all the info you need on other trails along the towpath and the CVNP.
The CNVP is actually the pendant in the “emerald necklace” of greenspace that surrounds the Cleveland area. If you look at the map of the area, you will see other parks not part of the CVNP that are part of the Cleveland Metroparks. The publication of events and news for the CM is actually called The Emerald Necklace because of it.
Some of the areas you can search that are not part of the CVNP may include :
The Gorge, Cuyahoga Falls: (actually part of Summit county parks of Akron, not the CVNP or Cleveland Metro: a nature filled walk into the deepest part of the gorge of the Cuyahoga River. Beautiful scenic walk.
Brandywine Falls: a short walk down to the falls. It has been a bit dry, so it may not be rushing quite as heavily, but usually still a beautiful walk to see the falls.
Brecksville Reservation: not far at all from here. The towpath mentioned above passes through this area if you head south from the trail heads near this home. Scenic paths and some rocky hiking if you get off the main trails into the woods near the river.
Rocky River Reservation: upper west side of the “necklace”.. beautiful.. nice nature center. Not sure of the hiking, but it is gorgeous over there.
Bedford Reservation: not far at all. North of here and up the street from Terra Vista, the first park I mentioned. The gorge there is pretty. There are mountain bike trails there so I know the hiking is good too.
There are more reservations on the east end as well
Plenty of exploring to do in the woods around NE Ohio, but you are also welcomed to walk back to the rear of this property. There is a creek back there that runs along the back end of the 5-acre property. The deer have made a few trails that run through the woods and its peaceful back there.
Make yourself at home while you are here! Please let me know if you need anything or more information!

I am a single mother of three, Navy veteran and full time student. I travel as much as I can. I have also decided to open my home to Airbnb travelers as a way to fund more travel for myself. I have enjoyed staying in many homes all over the country, and hope others enjoy mine!
