This Airbnb is housed in one of Joplin's Historic Landmarks, the Frederick H. Rogers House, completed in 1905. Frederick H. Rogers was a mining entrepreneur during the peak of the lead and zinc mining era. He engaged Austin Allen, the most prominent architect of the era, to design the house to his specifications. The house features domed ceilings, hardwood floors laid in the log cabin design and imported wood trim. The Rogers family called the house home until 1917.

Indawo
The William H. Landreth family occupied the home from 1917-1953. Landreth was a prominent businessman and even though he never held public office was very much involved in the development of Joplin. He was instrumental in cleaning up the "Kansas City Bottoms" which was known as Joplin's red-light district, and donated that land to establish what we now know as Landreth Park.

The Wieman family lived in the house from the early 1950s to the early 1980s. Dr. Harry K. Wieman was a leading physician of Joplin and was instrumental in the development of both the Freeman and St. John's Hospitals. His wife, Mary, was a reporter for the Joplin Globe Newspaper and taught English at Joplin High School. She too was an influential leader in the community.

I am a retired Musician and Educator. I spent over 50 years playing the tuba in Polka Bands, Dixieland Bands, other bands, Brass Chamber Music and Symphony Orchestras. Along the way, I've taught music in public and private schools, higher education and spent some time working as an arts administrator. Originally from Plattsmouth, Nebraska, I've lived the last 20+ years in Joplin, Missouri. Before moving to Joplin, my wife's hometown, we lived and taught overseas in the Middle East and the U.K. for 12 years. I love the diversities in our World Cultures! Though there are lots of things that make us different, I'm always reminded that we are all very much alike!
