Warm and cozy! in a quiet neighborhood, yet with plenty to do. 3 blocks to great playgrounds and parks, 4 blocks in any direction to great bars and restaurants, coffee shops galore, 3 blocks to the longest urban bike system in the country, 8 blocks to fantastic worldly food on Eat Street (Nicollet Ave), 1 mile to the great Chain of Lakes, 2.5 miles to downtown, 3 miles to the Mississippi, 2 miles to two world-class art museums, nature centers 20 minutes away!

This is the almost twin sister just across the hall from our other AirBnB, which you can read about in the reviews - very positive! It's cute and cozy one bedroom apartment is yours! It's not overly large, but it is perfect. We have a queen sized bed in a just-exactly-the-right-size bedroom, a couch in the office/"second bedroom" area that folds down into a second, full-sized bed, and if you really want to be adventurous, we can also provide a floor mattress. Be aware, this is a one-bedroom apartment; the second "sleeping area" is also the office, and is quite open. The apartment has a full, eat-in kitchen (with dishwasher) and bath (with bathtub), plenty of space for you to work, with a desk that gets plenty of light. The comfy living room (with its own regular couch, not a couch-bed) will draw you in and keep you reading or talking all night long. There is a great semi-private deck off the kitchen which is perfect for a sunset happy hour.

Indawo

Minneapolis, Minnesota, i-United States

LynLake is one of the best neighborhoods in the whole world. Ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but it feels that way to those of us lucky enough to live here. We are hugely multi-ethnic, very LGBTQ friendly, with great neighborhood walks or bike rides in many directions. It's less than a mile to the great chain of lakes, and only a few blocks to hop on the largest urban bike system in the country.

We are in a quiet area, but it's a quick walk or bike ride to the action. Want a great ramen place? There are four within a few blocks, take your choice. Eight blocks to the legendary Quang Vietnamese Restaurant, nestled in the legendary Eat Street row of ethnic restaurants and groceries. There are three pizza places within walking distance and numerous restaurants from every part of the world within a mile or so, not to mention a dozen cafes and coffee shops, from the hip to the homey. Oh, and did we mention that Patisserie 46 just down the street has the only American-born Relais Dessert chief in the world, with amazing pastries just waiting for you? Their baguettes are the best. In the world. Really.

If you have kids, there are three big green parks within blocks, with playgrounds and kiddie pools! (Did we mention Minneapolis is consistently rated number one for park access by the Trust for Public Land?)

There are four theaters (real-people theaters, not movie theaters) within a few blocks, including our all-time favorite Bryant-Lake Bowl, with its eclectic programming. And yes, they do have an old-fashioned bowling alley where all the people in the know actually do go. Maybe it has something to do with their excellent food and happy hours. It's eight blocks to the top-notch art-house movie theaters in Uptown (the Uptown and the Lagoon). A mile and a half to the huge and wonderful (and always free) Minneapolis Institute of Arts (the fourth largest in the country), and two miles to the Walker, one of the nation's premiere modern art museums. And don't even get us started on what awaits in the heart of downtown (3 miles away), or you can catch a direct bus to the University of Minnesota only a block from the house.

But there are plenty of things to do and see beyond walking distance in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The list is amazing, and we are happy to help with suggestions to personalize a trip to your own interests. No matter what it is, there is probably some mom-and-pop shop we know of that is the best in the world, or at least the Midwest! Who would have thought to go to the Museum of Russian Art, or the Weisman American art museum if a local didn't tell you it really is worth it!? The American Swedish Institute, besides being a really terrific museum, secretly has one of the world's best Swedish restaurants. The Children's Museum and the Science Museum over in St. Paul are obvious choices, but who would tell you that the St. Paul Public Library across the street is an architectural gem, and has many nooks that suddenly blossom into gorgeous new spaces? It takes a local to help you sort through the dozens of okay restaurants in the Warehouse District to hone in on the James Beard quality ones!

We know the cities inside and out. You never need to eat a mediocre meal from some Yelp recommendation, or waste time better spent at a museum or farmer's market.

We live downstairs from your apartment, so are on hand to help with any questions you may have, or to lend you anything from a road map to a micro-planer to zest that lemon. The apartment is beautifully quiet, though, and if you so desire, you can come and go and never see another soul!
