This cozy lower flat is located just outside of Detroit! Only 15 min to Downtown; 10 min to I-75 or I-94. You will have the whole lower flat to yourself (the upper flat has a permanent tenant). Onsite washer & dryer! The house was built in 1920, so we've decided to celebrate it's centennial by decorating in a style reminiscent of the 1920s.

Indawo
We think you'll love staying in our cozy 1920s home -- the space is a lower flat decorated with vintage furnishings and accessories! This space is not appropriate for children. There is a tenant living in the upper flat, so you will undoubtedly hear the sounds of them walking around or watching TV -- they work a lot, so they are generally very quiet. Guests will need to be respectful of the neighbor and follow the house rules for Quiet Hours (after 10pm). With the lower flat all to yourself, you'll have two bedrooms and a full kitchen -- a perfect space for people travelling to Detroit for work, or a little family visiting from out-of-town. You'll need to climb five steps up to our large front porch, but after that everything is on one level. The living room has plenty of seating to relax or watch TV. The dining room has a big table for eating or setting up for off-site work. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and all the pots, pans, and tableware needed for a group of four people. Though small, the bedrooms are cozy and have closets and drawers for your clothes. The beds are both queen size. The bathroom has a large soaking tub, and we provide plenty of fresh, clean towels. You will have access to the private laundry room in the basement -- this space is not shared with the other tenant and is accessible only to the lower flat guest. Please see our pictures for more detail of the setup. Parking is simple with our always-available street parking (the driveway is reserved for the permanent tenant in the upper flat.) We are excited to share this space with you while you visit Metro Detroit!

River Rouge, Michigan, i-United States

River Rouge is a small community just outside Detroit. Most of the houses were built in the first quarter of the 1900s for workers in the nearby steel and auto factories. Today Rouge is still a working class neighborhood made-up of a diverse community of people -- some who have lived here all their lives, and others who are drawn to Rouge for it's affordable rentals. The houses are relatively close together, the side-streets are one-way only. Our house is the first house East of Jefferson Ave (the main street going through River Rouge). During your stay, you will see lots of activity -- people walking up to Jefferson Ave, kids running around playing, dogs barking, cars driving by. Sometimes you can even hear the horns from the big boats on the Detroit River :) The little local grocery store is just 300 feet away; there is a McDonalds and Dairy Queen just a block away; and there are Dispensaries (for those who indulge) just up the street!

I love architecture, old stuff, books, music, and hanging out with my granddaughter. I’m a founding member of Book Suey, an owner-operated Co-op bookstore in Hamtramck. I’m the mother of three amazing (adult) children :)

I like interesting/quirky objects, and my houses reflects this--I hope you'll enjoy the eclectic mix of furniture and knick-knacks.

**Please note, my daughter & I managed the airbnb together before, you'll see her name (Alissa) if you go far enough back in reviews, on occasion she still helps out & often uses this to book when she travels for work:)
