Chy an Eglos is a private holiday home rental, 4 miles from St Ives in the heart of the hamlet of Zennor. The local pub, with its sea view pub garden, is pigeon steps away, as the Moomaid Ice Cream Parlour & Cafe. The South-West Coast path is a short walk from the house. This home away from home, is a Grade II listed Georgian style property with four bedrooms, sleeping up to 7 people. Private Parking for two cars is opposite the house. Well behaved dogs are also welcome.

We have a very well-equipped kitchen, with farmhouse style dining table for eight people, and a large open fireplace with an Aga, that gently heats the room making it a cosy place to hang out for long lazy lunches or fun family meals. There are instructions in the kitchen for how to use the Aga if you’re not initiated – and suggestions for waffle and pancake making for indulgent breakfasts! The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, under-counter fridge, and Nespresso maker. There is a second fridge and freezer in the utility, along with washing machine and tumble drier. There is also a Weber BBQ in the courtyard garden which you are welcome to use.

Our lovely lounge has seating for seven, soft squidgy sofas perfect for relaxing or napping in, and plenty of books and games for your enjoyment. There’s also a cosy wood burner for any chilly evenings; fluffy blankets, logs and kindling are supplied, all you need to bring are your slippers! There’s all the entertainment facilities you could possibly need, with Internet enabled TV, DVD Player and a wide selection of films, wireless speakers, and super-fast WIFI throughout the house.

We have taken the time to make sure all our bedrooms have comfortable beds and extra lovely bed linen to ensure you have a peaceful nights sleep. A fluffy hand and bath towel for each guest is provided, and additional beach towels are also available. Hairdryers are available in 3 of the 4 rooms.

The Master bedroom has a super-king bed, which can be arranged into two full sized single beds if required. It’s a spacious and light room, decorated in the palate of St Ives, and has views out over the front garden. When made into a super-king the bed has luxurious mattress topper for extra comfort.

The Double bedroom is a king-sized wrought iron bed, decorated in hues of blue. You might not hear the Atlantic from the bedroom, but you know it’s only a couple of minutes walk away.

The Single bedroom is standard sized, and people often comment that this is their favourite room. There’s something about the light and airy feel and the room’s views of the garden and up across to the hill and dairy farm on the other side of the village, that frame the serenity of this part of the world perfectly.

The Bunkbed room has two 6x3ft beds, so standard width and only 3 inches shorter than a standard single – suitable for adults and children alike. We provide games, toys and a selection of books that we hope will inspire a fun stay. Recalling stories of the Mermaid of Zennor or the Mousehole Cat are some of our favourite bedtime reads! Child stair-gates can be provided, and a travel cot too if required.

Beautiful and private outside spaces surround Chy An Eglos, with a courtyard that wraps itself around the building and the tranquil garden at the front, you are always sure to find a quiet sunny spot.

The courtyard has two spaces for relaxing – the smaller of the two is perfect for that first cup of tea or coffee in the morning, quiet, secluded and a sun-trap perfect for reading the paper. The larger of the two has a garden dining table seating 8, it’s perfect for alfresco meals, BBQs, and/or sitting out and listening to the gentle sound of folk music from the Tinners Arms on a warm Thursday evening. The rear courtyards are enclosed with a gate.

The spacious front garden (accessed from across the road) is well-planted and has views out to sea. There are benches and tables hidden in the corners of the garden, and sunbeds, deck chairs and picnic blankets provided for sun-bathing.

The house is well stocked with equipment for days at the beach, all we ask is that you return items to their storage space and leave them as clean and tidy as you found them so that future guests are able to enjoy also.

We welcome dogs to the property. The back courtyard and front garden (accessed across the road) are both fully enclosed. The utility room is large, a perfect place for dogs to sleep and eat. We ask that you try to keep dogs downstairs, and request that they are kept off of beds and furniture at all times. We supply a drinking bowl and ask that you bring everything else to make your pooch comfortable, including Dog Waste bags. There are some amazing walks right from the house, and most of the restaurants and pubs nearby are dog friendly. The nearest dog-friendly beaches in high-season are Portheras Cove nr Morvah, Bamaluz in St Ives or Longrock just outside Penzance

Cornwall, England, i-United Kingdom

The house is central to the hamlet of Zennor, just steps away from the infamous Tinners Arms pub and South-West Coast path. There are incredible walks right from the doorstep where you can explore this untamed and beautiful part of Cornwall.

Zennor is located on the coastal road between St Ives, with all it's glorious beaches, shops, galleries, museums and restaurants, and in the other direction St Just, Lands End and the incredible beach at Sennen.

There is so much to see and do in the local area, from visiting Ancient Monuments, exploring Coastal Villages, walking to Secret coves and beaches, to enjoying the many gardens, national trust properties, Zoo's and theme parks - not to mention water sports of all kinds, and even day trips to the Scilly Isles.

We are happy to share our connections and make recommendations for special experiences - from foraging to fishing, to cookery classes, vineyard exploring, surf lessons or perhaps a private chef so you can dine at home.

Whether you're visiting to explore and have adventures or simply want a place to relax and unwind and to walk amongst the wild countryside or soak in the sunsets. Our guests tell us time and time again - Chy An Eglos is a home away from home.

My husband Nick and I live in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. We are also lucky enough to have a home in Cornwall, about as far South West that you can go, in Zennor. We don't have children ourselves but we have many god-children that we like to go on adventures with, and have to stay at our Cornish home - which is well equipped for them. We do however have some furry friends, Vic the Cat and Stanley the Cocker Spaniel, the latter of which often joins us on our adventures and who particularly loves his Cornwall escapes.

We love to travel and explore the world, yet, we also love returning to our happy place by the Sea, set amongst the wild nature of the Penwith coastline. The village of Zennor is simply a little slice of heaven. The pub on the doorstep is a gift, the costal walks from the village are breath-taking, the locals are sure to welcome you, and we're sure you'll enjoy learning about the local Mermaid and other such local legends!

Chy An Eglos is a home away from home for us, and as hosts, we hope you’ll feel the same if you choose to stay with us. We hope our guidebooks will help you enjoy all that’s available – we’ve pooled over twenty years of our Cornish holiday experiences in the recommendations in the hope it helps you to thoroughly enjoy all that’s on offer.
