Our Lodge is perfect for a quite get away from everyday life, a tranquil patch of greenery nestled in the escarpment of Beaver Valley.

If you’re looking for a place to relax and recharge, a place for solitude and restoration, then the Lodge may be just what you need. Enjoy yoga on the side deck, reading in a hammock beside the stream, or exploring the many hikes and nearby amenities just a stones throw away.

Indawo
The Lodge is located within the protected Niagara Escarpment, with a quite stream running through the property. A wrap around deck with a fenced in yard includes a BBQ and sun loungers. Nestled into the woods, the Lodge has good visual privacy due to the surrounding Carolinian forest.

As our first home, we’ve poured our heart and soul into making it our own and spend most of our time here when not in the City for work. In terms of sleeping arrangements, we have a large bedroom with a king bed and a guest bedroom with a queen bed making for a perfect, quite getaway with close friends or family.

The Lodge is a place for relaxation and solitude from the everyday, and as such there is no wifi available (though cell reception is strong and reliable). The lower level has a TV with DVD player and includes a gas fireplace for cooler evenings.

Note that a guide book will be provided to guests upon booking, which provides key details on how to enjoy the space safely, key house rules (such as outside noise and a zero disturbance policy to the neighbourhood) and other specifics.

Markdale, Ontario, i-Canada

The Area:

Groceries and Essentials: 8 mins away in Eugenia is Top O’ The Rock where you can re-up on any missed groceries, beer or wine. They also have charcoal for the BBQ, ice and some great locally made frozen meals. There’s also The Kimberley General Store only 5 mins away that has fresh produce, freshly baked pies and other treats (made next door at their sister restaurant, see below), milk, eggs, delicious frozen meals and meats. Very cute spot. If you need to do a proper big grocery shop there’s a Foodland and LCBO / Beer Store in Markdale about 12 mins away.

Restaurants + Bars: There are some great local spots in Kimberley to dine with patios (5 min drive). Justin’s Oven has incredible gourmet pizzas and hearty high-end comfort foods, they are the same owners as the General Store mentioned above. Also, Hearts Tavern down the road is a really cool spot that just opened up early 2021. Wonderful Patio, decadent eats and a butcher + wine shop inside. In Eugenia (8 min drive) there’s the Flying Chestnut that also has an outdoor food market Thurs-Sun. All these places you can pre-order meals online and p/u as an alternative during COVID. Both Markdale and Flesherton (12 min drive) have some great cafes and to-go style eats, no patios for outdoor eating as a heads up. Some of our favorites are Susan’s Deli, The Bicycle Café and Highland Grounds.

Outdoor Activities: Along our street there are some great access points to the Bruce Trail for some stellar hiking and in winter snow shoeing or cross-country skiing. There are also two famous waterfalls, Eugenia Falls and Hoggs Falls. We have a book at our lodge with tons of trails in the area, our favourites are dog-eared for you! There are also 4 access points to the Beaver River starting at Kimberley all the way to Thornbury (where it spills into Georgian Bay) for canoeing or kayaking. At one of the access points is a spot you can rent both or sign up to take a tour, highly recommend this.
