Dating back to the Tudor period, the house offers 2 twin/double rooms and a further double, all en-suite. Anglican Shrine and the Abbey grounds around the corner.

Guests are welcome to use the drawing room, kitchenette and downstairs loo. The upstairs bedrooms are spacious and have en suite showers in the two twin rooms and an en suite bathroom in the double. The two twin rooms (Cavell and Walpole) can also be king-size doubles.

The Old Bakehouse is equidistant to the Black Lion and Bull pubs. The Black Lion on Friday Market offers wonderful fine dining and the Bull, decent pub food. Booking is advised at the Black Lion. Epiphany cafe is 3 doors away and offers snacks, teas and coffees and ice creams. They do a mean sausage roll too.

The Anglican Shrine does a take away pizza service in the evenings.

The Bull also does a big fry up for 12 pounds or thereabouts. Read and Digest Cafe is 75 yards from The Old Bakehouse front door and has indoor and outdoor seating.

Walsingham Abbey grounds 50 yards.

Catholic Shrine 3 mins drive. 30 mins walk down the Pilgrim route.

My husband is a musician and I'm an artist and photographer. Justin is a bass singer, composer, organist, pianist and conductor. I paint in oil and photograph in a documentary style and shoot weddings, portraits, families, events and corporate shots. The house has many of my paintings on the walls.

Having traveled extensively over the years some of the countries we've enjoyed are: India; Kenya; Israel; Turkmenistan; Mongolia; Belize; Guatemala; Turkey; France; Spain; Russia to name but a few.

We enjoy entertaining and hosting and moved to The Old Bakehouse in June 2021 to run the B and B here having been superhosts in London for several years. We love being in the heart of Walsingham and its community and have enjoyed meeting pilgrims and holiday makers. It’s a historic and unique village - really a slice of heaven in many ways.
As with our family and friends, we want you to feel at home when you come to stay with us. We are open and warm. We enjoy good conversation and getting to know people from all walks of life.

The Old Bakehouse was operating as a B and B when we bought it, and we opened for business within a few weeks of moving in. My artwork and photography is for sale throughout. My main outlet is through Alexandra Tolstoy’s Tolstoy Edit. We love rummaging in antique shops and the furnishings reflect that - we can suggest a number of local places if you enjoy treasure hunting.
Many people visit North Norfolk for the beautiful scenery - quite often bringing their dogs: we are happy to welcome pets - there is no extra charge for animals. We have a Jack Russell ourselves who is good with children.
There is much music and art and poetry in the house - we have a resident Bard in the attic, our dear friend Sarah, a performance poet. We regularly host poetry and music events in the spacious drawing room.
Of course, Walsingham is first of all a place of pilgrimage for Catholics and Anglicans. One of our guests wrote that he found the village a ‘thin place’ where the spiritual feels very present. We welcome pilgrims and look forward to sharing stories about following the way.
