Ex-American now stateless. On June 21, 2013 I walked into the US Embassy as an American Citizen and left a short while later without any nationality at all. My walk home was like a sack of bricks had been lifted from my back.
I've lived in Paraguay for over 10 years. I enjoy living here as I can walk to most everyplace I need to for my daily needs. The weather is pleasant, not to cold and the heat grows on you over time. There is a variety of ethnic restaurants nearby, with new ones springing up all the time. A few blocks away are conventional shopping centers.
Since Spanish is a second language for many Paraguayans, my not-so good Spanish doesn't stand out as much as it might in other places.
As a host I hope to provide a place where you can get a good nights sleep, enjoy some peace and quiet, and most importantly feel as if you are at home. I enjoy meeting people from around the world and learning about their cultures and experiences.
I spend a lot of time at home but usually step out for lunch and when there is good company, dinner. If it fits your schedule, I am free to grab a bite to eat while you are here. The top of my list is Turkish, Japanese, Peruvian, Korean food, maybe pasta, and there are a lot of small restaurants and coffee shops near by I have yet to explore.
I haven't done a lot of traveling since I arrived in Paraguay, but my style is to wake up one morning and go. A few years ago, I woke up and felt like a second trip to the Amazon was calling me. I phoned a friend there, and he said "if you can be here tomorrow afternoon you're welcome to come". I bought a plane ticket and was exhausted but relaxing in the Amazon forest the next afternoon.
My Condos listed on Airbnb are near where I live so you can enjoy staying in them as I enjoy living in the area.
I am also owner of 3 small restaurants in the Villa Morra Food Park: La Ruda (Delicious Vegan food), Ho'a Waffles y Crepes, and Neferiti an Arab style cafe with Arab Coffee (with Cardamon), regular coffee, Hookahs with many flavors of tobacco, Arab desserts. Ho'a and Nefertiti also have a wide selection of beer, wine and cocktails.
