This modernised retro-style interior oozes character & history with its large bright, living room with upstairs living accommodation, wood-burner, hardwood floors, hand-decorated ceramic tiles, extensive garden & private parking. If you are interested in art, craft & artefacts you will love this place. Only 15 minutes from city centre, it's also perfectly situated for visiting the Wolds or coast. This former family home offers a comfortable, peaceful stay & ideal retreat for creative people.

Indawo
This is an opportunity to stay in a unique and historic artists house with a family history narrative. Its modernist design conversion from a bakery in the 1950s, by my parents, includes many hand-crafted ceramic and hardwood features. Located in the central conservation area of a pretty village, it has a large and stunning living room, huge and beautiful secluded garden, and is conveniently located next to the village shop. This place is comfortable and offers a peaceful break and ideal retreat. It is ideal for one or two people, but will accommodate seven, though with only one bathroom it's better with less, and is priced accordingly. The furniture is suggestive of Scandinavian design and the decor creates a retro/contemporary quality reflecting the past and cultural content of this home. It has been described as 'quirky'. If you are looking for a place which contains character, if you like ceramics, wood, personal histories recorded in an M.Phil thesis, or art, you will like it here.

Ukungena kwesivakashi
Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations, and currently have a two day buffer between visits. You will have the whole house and garden to yourself, with car-port for off-road parking, and yard space for a second car. The large entrance hall and wooden staircase lead to the main living accommodation upstairs. The large and light living room overlooks the garden, with adjoining annex providing dining room / study space, lined with art and poetry books. A door from the living room leads onto the balcony with a bench and picnic table overlooking the garden, it's ideal for sitting with coffee or eating out in the summer. The small kitchen is well equipped with a view over tree tops in centre of village. Walk along the landing to the blue bathroom which has a bath with shower taps, but no stand-up shower. Next is a room with two bunk beds, ideal for children, but comfortable for adults too. At the end of the landing is the main double bedroom with a very comfortable mattress. Downstairs, next to the entrance hall is a large multipurpose room with double bed, a comfy single bed, and a small washbasin here. This room also has a round table with chairs, useful if you want to do any work, a DVD player, a piano, washing machine and dryer. There is a very large well-kept garden at the rear of the house. Be aware of the small pond, with frogs, if you have small children.

Ezinye izinto okumele ziqashelwe
There is a good fast fibre WiFi connection, there are radios, poetry books, novels, and a piano, but no TV - it would spoil the peace and sense of retreat. Mobile signal is reasonable on most networks. There is a new A rated combination boiler so there is instant hot water. Take care with the shower taps on the bath as they are only for use in the bath, not for stand-up showers. If the weather is kind you will be able to enjoy the lovely garden. The first basket of wood for the wood-burner is free, after that it's £3.00 per basket. Please leave money for the amount you have used in the house.

Reepham, Lincoln, England, i-United Kingdom

The house is in the centre of the village with a licensed post office very close, where you can buy supplies from 7am, including cups of coffee! The village pub has recently been refurbished, and Nettleham two miles away has three pubs, at least one of which does excellent food. This is a conservation area with a village green, Church of England church and a Methodist chapel. Reepham is a ten minute drive from Lincoln with its magnificent cathedral, the towers of which mark the landscape for miles. One of the few existing copies of the Magna Carta is displayed in the Norman castle, and Lincoln has many great places to eat, cinemas and other attractions. The National Centre for Design & Craft is a short drive away, as is the Kinema in the Woods at Woodall Spa. On the East coast are the bird reserves of Gibraltar Point, or seaside resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe. Horncastle is well known for its antique shops and the small town of Louth is on the edge of the lovely Lincolnshire Wolds. Sustains cycle route runs along the River Witham from Lincoln to Boston on the coast, and is accessible from Five Mile House in Fiskerton. It makes a pleasant walk where you will see swans and possibly barn owls.

I am an artist, teacher, and make ceramics and manage these along with organising letting the home I grew up in. I am interested in art and culture from all over the world and this is reflected by the contents and interior of the house. I like design, colour and textiles and apply these to create an interesting environment to share with others. I recently completed post-graduate research relating to the ceramic work of my father. The house forms part of the structure for my writing; you will find a copy of my thesis in the house (but will need a long stay to read it!) I listen to world-music, enjoy cooking and eating good food, reading visually descriptive novels, and cycling. I enjoy meeting new people and communicating with visitors to my house, particularly those who share my interests. And you can't beat travelling. I am organised and will do anything or answer any questions to make your stay easy and comfortable. I look for the positive in people, and wish we lived in a peaceful world.

Phakathi nokuhlala kwakho
You can let yourself in whatever time you arrive. You will be welcomed into a warm house with a bottle of wine, and chocolate. I will be happy to answer any questions you have. I like to know when you have arrived, and left, so please keep in touch with me during your visit. Instructions are in the house but if you need to ask anything just get in touch. I love to hear the highlights of your visit so write about them in the visitors book. And don't forget to write a review at the end of your visit, these are important for my Airbnb ratings.
Before you leave, please return all items to their original place, and tidy up after yourself. This helps my cleaner with her job, to make the place sparklingly clean and sanitised.
