This modernised retro-style interior oozes character & history with its large bright upstairs living room, wood-burner, hardwood floors, hand-decorated ceramic tiles, extensive garden & private parking. If you are interested in studio pottery, craft & artefacts you will love this place. Only 15 minutes from Lincoln, it's perfectly situated for visiting the Wolds or coast. This former artist's family home offers a comfortable, peaceful stay & ideal retreat for creative people.

Indawo
This is an opportunity to stay in a unique and interesting house with a family history narrative. Its modernist design conversion from a bakery in the 1950s, by my parents, when they worked at Lincoln School of Art, includes many hand-crafted ceramic, fabric and hardwood features. Located in the central conservation area of a pretty village, it has a large and stunning living room, huge and beautiful secluded garden, and is conveniently located next to the village shop. This place is comfortable and offers a peaceful break and ideal retreat. It is ideal for one or two people, but will accommodate seven, though with only one bathroom it's better with less, and is priced accordingly. The furniture is suggestive of Scandinavian design and the decor creates a retro/contemporary quality reflecting the past and cultural content of this home. It has been described as 'quirky'. If you are looking for a place which contains character, if you like ceramics, wood, personal histories which are recorded in an M.Phil thesis, or art, you will like it here. We use and provide environmentally friendly products.

Reepham, Lincoln, England, i-United Kingdom

The house is in the centre of the village with a licensed post office very close, where you can buy supplies from 7am, including cups of coffee! The village pub has recently been refurbished, and Nettleham two miles away has three pubs, at least one of which does excellent food. This is a conservation area with a village green, Church of England church and a Methodist chapel. Reepham is a ten minute drive from Lincoln with its magnificent cathedral, the towers of which mark the landscape for miles. One of the few existing copies of the Magna Carta is displayed in the Norman castle, and Lincoln has many great places to eat, cinemas and other attractions. The National Centre for Design & Craft is a short drive away, as is the Kinema in the Woods at Woodall Spa. On the East coast are the bird reserves of Gibraltar Point, or seaside resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe. Horncastle is well known for its antique shops and the small town of Louth is on the edge of the lovely Lincolnshire Wolds. Sustains cycle route runs along the River Witham from Lincoln to Boston on the coast, and is accessible from Five Mile House in Fiskerton. It makes a pleasant walk where you will see swans and possibly barn owls.

I love this house and the connection with my roots and the fact that my parents developed it following their dreams after the Second World War. They instilled in me an interest in art and culture from all over the world and this is reflected by the contents and design of the house and the garden. It contains a lot of wood and other natural materials, and I try to reflect this ideology in the products I use. I like design, colour and textiles and apply these to create an interesting environment to share with others. I recently completed post-graduate research recording the ceramic work of my father. You will find a copy of my thesis in the house (but will need a long stay to read it all!). I also work in clay, making colourful ceramic dishes and tiles, and draw and paint landscapes. I enjoy listening to world-music, cooking, reading, cycling, yoga, gardening and sewing. I also enjoy meeting new people and travelling. I am organised and will do anything or answer any questions to make your stay easy and comfortable. I look for the positive in people, and wish we lived in a peaceful calmer world.

Phakathi nokuhlala kwakho
You can let yourself in after 4pm on the first day of your visit. The house will have been thoroughly aired, cleaned and sanitised, with a gap between guests visits. If you are staying for short break you will be greeted with chocolate, if staying for a week you will receive a complementary bottle of wine. I like to know when you have arrived, and left, so please keep in touch with me during your visit. Instructions are in the house but if you need to ask about anything please do get in touch. I love to hear the highlights of your visit so you may wish to write about them in the Visitors Book. But more importantly please write a review on Airbnb at the end of your visit.
Before you leave, return all items to their original place, and leave the house and garden tidy. I am also asking guests to strip their own beds, and to place bedding and used towels in the laundry baskets by the washing machine. This helps reduce the spread of any infections, and helps my cleaner to focus on washing, and making the place sparklingly clean for the next visitors.
