The Maine Retreat is a quiet oasis close to the action of Deep Creek Lake, yet nestled in a private lakeside community. A short trail walk through privately owned woods takes you from cozy, quiet seclusion to the beauty of Deep Creek Lake's shores. This home is for the outdoor enthusiast, the nature lover, and the wildlife watcher. City slickers need not apply-- welcome to “Maine”!

Take a seat on the Covered Porch or take a stroll around the property-- 3 Acres of Private Woods with a fire pit and Trail to the Lake are yours for savoring. Take the Canoe out and see if you can catch local bass, bluegill, perch, or walleye with the Fishing Rods, Tackle, Paddles and Lifevests we provide.

Within 10-15 min., you'll reach Deep Creek Lake activities, and when you return home, bright street lights won't interrupt your view of the clear night sky, beautiful sounds of nature, or peaceful time with your loved ones. Three equal-sized bedrooms with a queen-sized bed, two full-sized beds, and a pull-out sofa easily accommodate 6 - 8 adults with these four beds.

The backyard firepit is sure to be a place where memories are made roasting hotdogs, making smores, and catching up with those who mean the most.

We have updated our cleaning protocols, which take more time, so we may not be able to honor requests to stay late or arrive early.

More Features of The Maine Retreat
The large front and back yard offer plenty of Kid-Friendly and Pet-Friendly space for outdoor games, such as horseshoe, badminton, volleyball, and a Southern favorite, cornhole (beanbag toss). You'll find these and other fun items (frisbee, water guns, etc.) in our gaming closet. You'll enjoy hours of old school indoor family entertainment from the satellite TV, DVDs, Videos, CDs, PlayStation and PS2 games on rainy mountain days. Wi-Fi is DSL. This remote location is not well suited for high-speed internet activities such as streaming or gaming.

Bring your bikes, as the North Glade Hills community is a great place to ride. Kids can ride through the neighborhood and adults can enjoy the long country roads. Bring kindling for the fireplace. Nearby Deep Creek State Park has hiking trails, boat launch, public beach with picnic areas and basketball courts, a science center, and tourist/info desk.

Our street has just a few homes, with plenty of land in between. We can walk down to the lake and take the canoe out to fish or paddle. We are close to all central DCL activities, including WISP ski resort. Don't plan to get much work done here. Just like much of Maine, our location is heavily wooded and our internet is dodgy- slower during rain, snow, or peak visitor seasons, etc. Best plan to disconnect! Not a great spot for zoom, online movies or gaming- there’s a coffee shop and a library with limited hours at Garrett College in a pinch, but we love unplugging for this convenient location with such privacy, easy lake access, and an awesome back yard. We wanted space to play outdoor games and soak in the sun! Best of all, the property reminded us of the Maine woods.

When we left Maryland for Maine, we started craving some winter sun. Our Florida home provides that same cozy feel, but with a dose of sand and sun. We hope you’ll agree.
