19th-century wood-frame house overlooking Casco Bay, on the top of Munjoy Hill on Portland's beloved East End.

Indawo
My house is ideally situated just off Portland's Eastern Promenade park- right in town, yet close to the water, and a short walk to the Old Port. The second floor has wonderful views of Portland Harbor and Casco Bay- always busy with boats of all kinds and sizes. The house can comfortably accommodate 4 guests as I have a second bedroom available with a comfy double bed. The two bedrooms together with the "middle room" are collectively a suite that is perfect for families. Guests have the option of reserving 1 or 2 bedrooms. The second bedroom is an additional $25/night for one person- $40 for two.

The house is 2 blocks from 3 excellent restaurants, a bistro, a coffee shop, a sandwich shop, and a grocery store stocked with local produce, wine, and quality breads and cheeses. It's an easy walk along the harbor to downtown Portland.
The front bedroom has a comfortable Queen-sized bed and looks out over Portland Harbor and beyond. It' a lively harbor-- there are ferries, sailboats, lobster boats, and tankers. The second bedroom has a double bed. There is a room separating the two bedrooms with couch, tv, comfy chairs, and a small desk. The private bathroom has both a shower and an old-fashioned claw-foot tub. There is a Swedish sauna in the shed attached to the house.

There's a coffee maker and tea kettle in the rooms. I don't provide breakfast, but it's easy to walk 2 blox to a good breakfast. You are welcome to store food in my fridge.
Weather and season permitting, my little city garden is a lovely place to sit, to read, have a glass of wine, or a picnic. Plus we're surrounded by the glorious E. Prom with its view of Casco Bay and the islands. People love it here- it's clean, comfortable, and beautiful.

Portland, Maine, i-United States

The house is on the Eastern Prom-- a mile-long park on a hill that goes down to the Bay and is criss-crossed with trails through the woods and along the water's edge. There's even a beach. It is an ideal place to live and to visit because it's an old-fashioned city neighborhood bordered by acres of accessible natural coastal habitat-- the best of both worlds! I grew up in the suburbs of New York, but was happiest when visiting my grandparents on their farm in Maine. After finishing college in New York City, I attended the University of Maine Law School in Portland. I graduated in 1977 and have been practicing law in Portland ever since. I bought my house on Munjoy Hill in 1984, and quickly realized that I was exactly where I wanted to be-- on top of a hill in an urban neighborhood looking out on Portland’s busy working harbor, and beyond the harbor to Casco Bay. I have lived here ever since. My two children—now in their 20s— were born and raised here. My office, in Portland’s Old Port, is a 15-minute walk away. Weather permitting, I walk or ride my bike to work, always mindful of how lucky I am not to be sitting in traffic. Six months out of the year, I spend my free time tending to my flower garden, which surrounds a small circular terrace with outdoor table and chairs. In the winter, I’m at my sewing machine, making quilts and clothes. I share my home with a handsome and friendly ginger cat, Rudy. I look forward to hosting you!

Phakathi nokuhlala kwakho

My guests have their own key and entrance. I'm at work during the weekdays, which means I don't serve breakfast. There's a coffee pot and a tea kettle in the guest bathroom. There's also a great breakfast place 3 blocks from the house as well as a great coffee shop.
