(Currently, no 1-day bookings due to extensive cleaning required) Hot tub/fire pit/pool! Hike our woods to deer trail along river! Over 80 eateries within 15 mins-many now take-out/delivery! Our guests spend most of their time privately enjoying our property and movies on the giant TV
We are still the ultimate couple's, private getaway, but we're making it easier to bring the little ones for a low-keyed, but fun-filled vacation. When you're not enjoying our outdoor amenities, relax in your very own home theater with 66" HD Smart TV. Full kitchen has an electric range, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, assorted small appliances. It is fully supplied for preparing full-course meals. The bedroom features a very comfy queen bed and two twin air mattresses for the kids as well as a portable crib. Please note that dining table only seats two, but there are two TV tables. The front yard has a playset, tree swing and junior bocce and horseshoes, charcoal grill, dining set, and hammock. Backyard has three-level deck, swimming pool with deck lounge chairs and umbrella table, screen porch with hot tub, gas grill, smoker, picnic table, outdoor living room, fire pit with seating, and a hammock in the woods. We have a private, hidden deck and a top-floor deck so you may never see us!
This is a prime piece of real estate the developer originally reserved for himself and a total surprise at the end of a very normal-looking suburban double cul de sac. And yet we consider a drive of over 10 minutes to get anything - groceries, auto service, medical treatment, pet care, pizza, etc. a totally unacceptable inconvenience! We have a herd of deer, a rafter of turkeys including three huge toms in the spring, an abnormally large red fox, a pack of coyotes, a rarely-seen bobcat, and birds of every feather, including woodpeckers, owls, and vultures.

This is a beautifully appointed studio apartment located off the patio level of a water front home. Guests enjoy a large private patio over looking gorgeous sweeping views of Long Island Sound. A private entrance and off street parking. The amazing views and amenities make this space the perfect romantic getaway! Close to I95 and Metro North railroad. Ten minutes to great dining in downtown Milford. A true waterfront oasis! Come and experience this beautiful retreat! You won't be disappointed!
The Studio is spacious, extremely well appointed, beautifully decorated and very high end. The entrance is private, at ground level, and accessed through french doors (see picture) located under the covered terrace. The host does live in the main part of the house on the two floors above the studio. However, as a super host, I'm extremely contentious of my guests privacy and comfort. When paying guests are present, the host does NOT use the patio or covered terrace. Those features are reserved for guests only. Other features include: a 1200 + square foot patio over looking incredible 180 degree views of Long Sound. Cozy bistro table by the sea wall for drinks, dinners, and breakfast by the water. Remote controlled gas fireplace in the studio for romantic evenings. A beautifully appointed bath featuring a marble glass enclosed shower with three body jets and massage shower head. A 50 inch smart TV and a Blu Ray DVD player (bring your own movies). Cable TV with HBO, Starz, Showtime, The Movie Channel, and music channels. High speed Wi-Fi. Five burner gas barbecue grill for the exclusive use of guests. NOTE: the studio is not located on a sandy beach. However, guests do have access to the shore line for beautiful walks by the water. Thanks! Your host: David
Quiet residential neighborhood. Off street parking. Only a 15 minute drive to Silver Sands state park and beach! Many excellent restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner just a 5 to 15 minute drive from studio. Two major casinos just an hours drive away.

Three decades of tasteful renovations — using almost 100% re-purposed material — have rendered this converted barn magazine-worthy. Set-back from the road on 1-acre of wooded land with a babbling brook, 353Brookside is a modern home that maintains its rustic allure. With 30-foot ceilings, exposed wooden beams, dozens of windows, an array of eclectic furniture and a grand piano, the charm of the barn is immediately obvious. Perfect for romantic get-aways, retreats, family gatherings and more.
Access to the entire home and 1-acre of land! The barn was built in the early 1900s to house the Oxen that built the dam down the road, hence the thick, original oak floors. The second and third floors were constructed by re-arranging the barm's giant beams horizontally instead of vertically. Almost all of the many abstract art pieces on the walls were painted by my mom and grandma. Everything has been modernized and we keep it sparkling clean! To make your stay easy, I have posted informational signs throughout the house that address FAQs, operating instructions and much more.
Quiet, quaint, peaceful neighborhood with very friendly neighbors. Many guests remark on how at ease they feel upon arrival. Convenient but private setting. Walkable to quick eats, ice cream and convenience stores. Less than 5 mininutes to grocery stores, resteraunts, and nature reserves. Less than 10-minutes to the beach, downtown, the train station, shopping areas, fitness studios, and golf courses. Just 45 miles from New York City.

"Vinola" is charming cabin built in the early 1930's. It underwent a total interior renovation in 2016 and is now the "Cabin in the Woods" you've been looking for! Enjoy an idyllic escape from the city year round. Activities include swimming, fishing, hiking, kayaking or just a cozy snooze with a book on the couch. Top off your stay by trying our traditional wood-fired Finnish sauna. Relax tired muscles and rejuvenate the soul. Check our photos and reviews!
The Top 5 questions we get: 1. Do we need to bring firewood? You are welcome to collect deadwood from the forest surrounding the cabin for free. We also provide firewood bundles for $3/bundle. 2. Does the cabin have pots and pans and linens? Yes, the cabin is equipped with everything you need for basic cooking and has linens and towels. 3. Does the sauna work? Yes! The sauna is available year round. 4. Is the cabin heated? Yes! The cabin has both propane and electric heat sources to keep you toasty even on the coldest of New England winter days. 5. Is there a grill? Yes! The cabin has a propane and a charcoal grill. We do not provide charcoal, so bring your own please. Vinola has one bedroom with a queen bed. The main room has one single bed, a single cot and a queen pull out sofa. The loft has 2 single cots. (The loft is not to be used by small children for safety.) Full kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The bathroom has a toilet and shower. There is no TV. (you won't miss it, we promise!) Vinola has a lovely porch on the front and a fire pit and gas and charcoal grills in the back. There are trails in Pachaug and Arcadia management areas that start at the end of the driveway. The cabin is a not secluded space. From the cabin, you can see our other cabin, a cottage and a few RV's (depends on season and number of guests). Please view ALL the listing photos to get a feel for the layout of the cabin in relation to other buildings.
This is a small, rural, lakeside community. There is far more activity on the lake in the summer months and it is very quiet in the winter. We have one neighbor on either side of our 7 acre property and both are rarely occupied summer homes.

Water Forest retreat is a very private 144 ft.² electrified and heated cedar octagon next to a brook on 100 acres of forest with a pond, waterfall, marsh and hiking trails. Cozy up in this quiet comfortable space while listening to Goldmine brook while you sleep. Fire pit, heated outhouse with composting toilet, outdoor dining area, brook and trail head are just steps away. We also have a TREE HOUSE and HIKER’S HAVEN house by the brook. Please click on our profile picture to read more.
Regarding the coronavirus, We are very diligent about cleaning all surfaces including light switches and door handles with Lysol. We also supply sanitizer wipes and hand sanitizer. Welcome to Water Forest Retreat, a tiny home on 100 acres of forest. It is a great place to relax, hike, mushroom hunt, write, read, fish, bird watch, meditate, create art or music, photography, snow shoe, cross country ski, but most of all to enjoy nature. This 144 ft.² (13.37 sq. meters) cedar octagon has electricity but not running water/plumbing. The space has windows with screens and shades on all eight sides for marvelous views of the forest and Goldmine brook. It also has a locking door. A key will be provided when you arrive. The space includes a full sized bed with a comfortable hybrid coil/memory foam mattress. The sheets are a soft 400 thread count and there are plenty of pillows, quilts and a faux fur throw. There is also a table with two chairs for dining, writing or computer work and a cabinet which stores some camping essentials. On top of the cabinet you will find a complimentary hand made glycerin soap. The lamps by the bed have usb ports for charging your phone. Above it all hangs a driftwood chandelier decorated with seashells, crystals and fairy lights. A book binder is provided with extra information, trail maps and directions on how to use the propane heater, coffee machine and electric fire place. There are 2 1/2 miles of well-maintained hiking trails with some that follow the brook to a waterfall which once hosted a gristmill back in the 1700s. You can still see the large stone foundations. Along the trails you will see many of the iconic stone walls that are unique to New England. Maps are provided in the book binder and trail markers are posted along the way. There are many benches and chairs along the trail for you to sit, relax and enjoy your surroundings. While hiking the trails walking poles or sticks are suggested. (You can use the handmade walking sticks in the octagon) The terrain is hilly and has occasional stone steps and steep areas. Proper hiking shoes are strongly recommended. Due to the nature of the trails no ATV, dirt or mountain biking is allowed. These are hiking trails only. While hiking please stay on our side of the brook as the opposite side is owed by our neighbor. Also, please respect the private signs as one trail leads to the tree house and the other leads to Hiker’s Haven where guests may be staying. There is a good distance between the three buildings so you will not be able to see each other even in winter. We wanted to make each site secluded and private. It is a 5 minute walk to a springfed pond which is part of Goldmine brook. The brook is rated class A and supports a myriad of wildlife including river otters, mink, muskrats and great blue herons. If you like to fish bring your gear to try for pickerel, shiners, yellow perch, white perch, big mouth bass, smallmouth bass, and native trout. Previous guests have had great luck flyfishing here. Since the pond is small we ask that you please practice catch and release. If you are looking for a place to swim, canoe or kayak visit Gardner lake state park which is only 15 minutes away in Salem. (You will need to supply your own canoe and kayaks) Depending on water flow, you can take a dip in the small pool just below the Goldmine brook waterfall which is a 20 to 25 minute hike away. Please wear water shoes as the brook is rocky. Looking for some ocean fun? Bluff point state park in Groton is another good choice. Here they have a beach along with hiking trails and is 24 minutes away. Both places are free of charge. Please check out our guidebook on Airbnb by clicking our profile picture for more things to do in the area. The outhouse, which is close to the octagon, has a composting toilet and is supplied with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Directions on how to use the toilet are posted on the wall. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY so that it will function properly. In winter the outhouse is provisioned with an electric heater for your comfort. The outdoor living area is conveniently layered with crushed stone. Enjoy a fire in the fire pit and meals either outdoors or in. A grill is provided for cooking over the fire pit. There are also tiki torches for extra light and ambiance along with tables and chairs. Seasoned wood is available for five dollars a box. You can also bring your own wood and are welcome to any wood on the forest floor as long as it is not being used to mark the trails. In the cabinet you will find camping essentials such as a propane camp stove, propane canisters, pots, pans, cutlery, dinnerware set, assorted cooking utensils, cutting board, dish drying cloth, spices, and scissors. Pottery mugs are provided. Nancy makes the mugs and they are for sale upon request. There are also wine glasses and a wine bottle opener for that special occasion. Since there is no refrigerator, you will need to bring your own cooler or borrow ours. There is a Big Y and Walmart 1 mile away. Looking for a liquor store? Bozrah wine and spirits is 1 mile away heading west on route 82. If you do not wish to cook your meals, there are plenty of local restaurants close by. We provide a few menus in the book binder that you can look through. Many restaurants make deliveries or you can use a delivery app.such as DoorDash. Com. We also have a Kuerig machine with coffee, tea, hot cider, chai latte and hot chocolate for your favorite brew. We provide assorted sweeteners and creamer. There are also a few snacks. Bottled water is provided or you can fill up a container at the shower in the warmer months as the well water is very good. A fan and electric fireplace are provided for your comfort. On very cold nights we also supply a propane heater. Flashlights, lantern, insect repellent, lighters, paper towels, Lysol cleaner, first aid kit, a mirror and umbrellas are also provided. An assortment of games are stored under the bed. Because of the distance Wi-Fi is not available in the octagon, but is available near the main house and in the pottery studio which is a walking distance of 288 feet. If your device is supported by any Internet provider you will be able to get online. Enjoy a hot outdoor shower up at the main house. The shower is private while you are using it, but is shared with guests staying at the tree house. There is also a sink here where you can wash your dishes. Plush towels, washcloths and body soap are available in a container under the bed. Shampoo and conditioner are up at the shower. Dish soap and sponges are provided at the sink. There is a black plastic container under the bed to put your used dishes in. Due to freezing temperatures the shower and sink are not available in the winter. A wash basin is provided under the bed for sponge bathing. You can use the coffee machine or the propane camp stove to heat water. Guests staying for two nights or more during this season are more than welcome to use the inside shower up at the main house. In winter we will take care of washing the dishes. For the nature enthusiast, take part in a guided nature walk where Nancy will discuss the history, plants, animals, geology and mushrooms found in the area. A guided walk costs $10 per person and lasts about an hour and a half. We usually cover 2 miles during the walk and may go off trail. You might want to bring something to drink, a snack and your camera. BEFORE YOU BOOK, please keep in mind that this is a fancy form of camping that is semi off grid ( no running water in Octagon) with all that camping entails including insects, animals, sudden weather changes, rocky paths and hilly terrain. There is also a short walk to the shower and parking lot (1 minute) In winter during very cold temperatures the octagon will be nice and cozy though the floor may be cool. Being in the forest you may get to hear our resident barred owls, red fox, eastern coyotes or possibly come across a white tailed deer or mink while hiking. The distance from the parking area to the octagon is approximately 288 feet with 156 feet of that being in the forest. ( about a 1 minute walk) Since the octagon is small please pack appropriately. We will be more than happy to help you with your luggage. Smoking is not allowed inside the octagon, but is allowed outside of it. For people staying two nights or more I will leave you a check in text to see how you are doing. Bert and I will do everything we can to make this a memorable and enjoyable visit. Please feel free to contact us at anytime if you need anything during your stay. We look forward to hosting you!
We live at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet residential neighborhood that Nancy's father and grandfather built in the late 1950's. The octagon is nestled on 100 acres of forest with a brook running along one side of the property.

Bozrah Wine and Spirits is one mile one the right heading west on route 82. Since there is no refrigerator you will need to bring your own cooler or you can borrow ours. If you do not wish to cook there are many good restaurants close by. We provide a few menus in the book binder for you to look through. Some restaurants even make deliveries or you can use a delivery app. such as door dash.com Enjoy a hot private outdoor shower down at the main house. The distance to the shower is about a one minute walk. The shower is private while you are using it , but is shared with other guests. Plush towels, washcloths and soap are stored under the bed in a container. Shampoo and conditioner are at the shower. There is a sink here where you can wash your dishes. Under the bed there is a black plastic container to use for dirty dishes. Dish soap and scrubber are provided at the sink. There is a dish drying cloth in the cabinet back at the tree house. Due to freezing temperatures, the shower and sink are not available in winter. A wash basin is provided for sponge bathing. The basin is stored under the bed. Simply use the coffee machine or camp stove to make hot water. Guests staying two nights or more during this season are more than welcome to use the inside shower up at the main house. In winter we will take care of washing the dishes. Because of the distance, Wifi is not available in the tree house, but is available in the parking area and pottery studio which is a walking distance of about 300 feet. If your device is supported by an Internet provider you will be able to get online. For the nature enthusiast, take part in a guided nature walk where Nancy will discuss the history, plants, animals, geology and mushrooms found in the area. The walk costs 10 dollars per person and lasts about an hour and a half. We usually cover 2 miles and may go off trail. You might want to bring something to drink, a snack, and your camera. BEFORE YOU BOOK, please keep in mind that this is a fancy form of camping (glamping!) that is semi off grid ( no running water in the Treehouse) with all that camping entails including insects, animals, sudden weather changes, rocky paths and hilly terrain. It is a one minute walk from the parking lot to the tree house and shower. You may get to hear our resident barred owls, red fox, eastern coyotes or possibly come across a white tailed deer while hiking the trails. The distance from the parking area to the tree house is about 300 feet with 170 feet of that being in the forest. Since the tree house is small please pack appropriately. We will be more be more than happy to help you with your luggage. Smoking is not allowed inside the tree house, but is allowed outside of it. For people staying two nights or more I will leave you a check in text to see how you’re doing. Bert and I will do everything we can to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Please feel free to contact us at anytime during your stay if you need anything. We look forward to hosting you!
We live at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet residential neighborhood that Nancy's father and grandfather built in the late 1950's. The tree house is nestled on 100 acres of forest with a brook running along one side of the property.

Spacious and cosy 1 bedroom apartment near bus line, high way and train station. This is a basement apartment, so the ceilings measures from top to floor is 6 ft 7 inches. It carries a large bedroom for 2 persons. There is a full bed, 3 chairs, 1 small table for laptop users, 2 bedside tables and a tv. There is 1 free parking space in the back and free parking on the street. I have a subpump to keep the space dry and cosy especially when the rain falls it flushes more often.
The space is spacious and Cosy. Clean, tidy and dust free. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, etc.... Nice shower, toilet and cleaning supplies. The kitchen space has fridge, microwave, electric pot, electric kettle, coffee pot, snacks, coffee tea hot chocolate salt & pepper etc. I just need to let you know that I have a subpump in the kitchen area that work to keep the water out of the basement. It is contained in a small sound proof room by itself, but you can still hear it when it flushes the water out, especially when the rain falls continuously. I and others sleep like a baby down there but if you have a sleeping problem think twice before booking please thanks.
It's a very quiet neighborhood. I lived here since 2010, I never have any issues with anyone. I go to work very early in the mornings and sometimes late at night, I work on shifts. I never had any problems going out or coming in. I walk out in the neighborhood for exercise purposes. I would never walk on the streets late at nights. I wouldn't do that in any area not just mine.

COVID-19 RESPONSE: We have implemented many changes to keep you safe. Please see below for our new protocols. Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond, in close proximity to our beautiful stone barn. Please note that Sticks and Stones Farm is a drug and alcohol free property and we request that all of our guests respect and adhere to our policy. Thank you!
NEW COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: In order to protect the wellness of both our guests and residents on the farm, we have implemented significant changes to our offerings. 1. All cabins have their own space for cooking. There are no communal facilities. 2. All cabins have access to a private toilet and shower facility 3. There is a two-day window on either side of our bookings to ensure a deep cleaning of each space. 4. We have closed access to the main barn to eliminate communal contact with residents and other guests. We have done all we can to provide a secluded, safe space for a natural retreat away from this uncertain world. You will be immersed in a natural setting where everything is exactly as it has always been. Nature is thriving more than ever - a perfect place to escape for a weekend, a week or even an month! Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond. The Houseboat has a comfy queen bed and a screened porch complete with two antique rocking chairs. The River Houseboat is often preferred because it is located close to the main Stone Barn and parking lot. Keep in mind that because this cabin is located at the base of the mountain it is not as secluded as the other cabins. For your safety as part of our Covid-19 response we have created an outdoor kitchen just outside the cabin with a sink, cook stove and gas grill. All dishware and basic cooking supplies are also provided. A seperate outdoor shower and outhouse is also provided. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn -There is a small fire pit located near the cabin. -Candles are not allowed in the cabins Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you! We ask that all guests arrive before dark. Guests arriving after 10pm will be required to pay an additional $20 late check in fee in cash upon arrival. We apologize but we must enforce this even if you are late due to circumstances out of you control. It’s simple living at its best. We're just over one hour from NYC but local folks love us too. We are an easy, inexpensive "staycation" and many use us frequently as their guest "bedroom" when out of town family or friends come. We offer a unique setting for your summer get-a-way or family reunion. There is a communal Rustic Kitchen on the top of the mountain ideally situated between the Pagoda cabin, Mtn. Laurel cabin and Summit cabin. The kitchen has cookware, plates, french press, utensils, a stove, grill, coolers with ice, olive oil, salt/pepper, drinking water and a sink with running water (not potable)! Lighting is limited and we always encourage people to bring their own additional lighting. There is also a fully equipped communal kitchen located in the Stone Barn at the base of the mountain which guests are welcome to use. We do not provide breakfast at this time. There are three large designated fire pits on the property. Some cabins also have their own fire pits which is noted in their individual descriptions. Fires are not allowed to be made in non-designated places! Please Note per Connecticut state law - firewood cannot be brought in from out of the state.  Upon arrival we will provide you with a map and your own cooler with ice. We allow our guests to drive their belongings up to their cabin at check in and upon check out but cars must be parked below in designated parking areas. Please remember that during your stay you will be traveling on foot! Most of the cabins are a 10-25 minute walk through the woods, depending on your speed. The River Houseboat and Little House are at the base of the mountain next to the stone barn and parking area so very little walking is required. We restock ice and other goods daily and thus try to make ourselves as available and accommodating to changing needs as possible - we have some individuals living on the property who can be available in case of emergency. Important Things to Note: -Verizon wireless is the only network to have service throughout the property. Nearly all other providers have service on the top of the mountain where the majority of our cabins are located.  -Dogs are not allowed to stay in any of our cabins. -Please be advised that we are not solely a Bed and Breakfast; we are a working farm and while we aim to accommodate you as best as possible, there are sometimes other events going on that may affect your stay. We recommend you check our calendar of events prior to booking. Sometimes our guests enjoy participating! -There is a shower inside the stone barn, as well as two outdoor showers located near the Rustic Kitchen area at the top of the mountain. - An outhouse that is cleaned weekly is located near the Rustic kitchen, Mtn. Laurel cabin, Summit cabin and Pagoda cabin and a two room state of the art composting toilet is shared between the Solar cabin and Log cabin - both a one minute walk away - We have a wilderness camp that runs Monday - Friday from 9am - 3pm during the summer. Campers and staff respect the privacy of the cabins but you might see some groups of children building forts or playing games throughout the forest  - Please be aware that depending on rain fall the property is at risk of drought in the late summer. This can sometimes cause the pond levels to drop making it less scenic for some. - None of the cabins except the River House Boat and Little House have electric- fans are provided in these cabins - There is a Stop and Shop grocery store located 2.5 miles from the farm - If you are arriving via metro north you want to get off at Bridgeport and from there you can get a driving service for the 30-minute ride to the farm (i.e. Uber, Lyft etc.). - We do have wi-fi in the main stone barn that reaches the Little House and the River houseboat. - There are two cats that live on the property in our near the stone barn.
Though there is lots to do in the towns of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm, most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.

"Ellis" is a cute fully heated and winterized camp cottage built in the 1960's by the students of Ellis Tech. It has two bedrooms and sleeps 4. The detached bunkhouse is included and has 3 single beds. Very peaceful lakeside location on Beach Pond. Walking distance to trails. Enjoy the quintessential lakeside vacation!
4. Does the cabin have heat? Yes, the cabin has both propane and electric heat to keep you toasty on even the coldest New England nights. 5. Is there a grill? Yes! The cabin has a propane and a charcoal grill. We do not provide charcoal, so bring your own please. Ellis has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two single beds. Included in the price is a detached bunkhouse that has 3 single beds. The space is newly remodeled and very cozy! Full kitchen with 4 burner gas stove and oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The kitchen has a table with 4 chairs and a small love seat that can fold out into a single bed. The bathroom has a shower, small sink and toilet. There is no TV. (you won't miss it, we promise!) Ellis has a lovely porch on the front with views of Beach Pond. This is not a secluded cabin. There is a house next door, another cabin behind, and a camp trailer that is occasionally occupied across the driveway. See the aerial photos in the listing to get a better feel for the layout.
This is a small, rural, lakeside community. There is far more activity on the lake in the summer months and it is very quiet in the winter. We have one neighbor on either side of our 7 acre property and both are rarely occupied summer homes.

Our guesthouse is on the Connecticut River in the treasured small town of Chester, half-way between New York and Boston – a little over two hours from each city and 45 minutes from New Haven and Hartford. The cottage features a wide porch, private front yard overlooking the river; a living room with a couch that pulls out to sleeps two comfortably, a dining area and kitchen at one end with a dishwasher. There's a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a good-sized bathroom with tub and shower. The house, on our four-acre property, is private and quiet and about two miles from the center of the village which is well-appointed with wonderful restaurants, a professional theater, galleries and one-of-a-kind shops. There is endless hiking and kayaking possibilities with a boat launch ramp adjacent to the property. Theater, music and a variety of activities and things to do are all close by. The cottage is $130 a night; $700 a week or $2000 a month. During January and February, 20209, the price is $110 a night; $660 a week and $1700 a month. We’d love to have you stay.
We live in a quiet, pretty exclusive neighborhood on a private road on the Connecticut River. The houses are quite far apart. The lively village of Chester is about two miles away where there is a theater, galleries, great restaurants, shops etc. All around is hiking and kayaking and boating as well as picturesque, colonial villages.

Enjoy complete privacy and 900+ square feet of living space in our ground floor suite. There is one king bed, one queen bed, and a comfy sectional couch. There is a small kitchenette for simple cooking and an alfresco BBQ patio for bigger cooking. There is plenty of living space both indoors and out. A new washer/dryer unit will take care of all the pool towels used!
This is really a nice, cozy apartment - with ample living space! Pull into a private garage that is attached to your suite. There is a full sized refrigerator in the garage you may use. From the garage you enter a serene sun room flooded with bright, natural light. This room is perfect for reading or to enjoy a glass of wine and a quiet chat. The radiant floors are super cozy on your feet during the winter, and year round you can enjoy the great view of the woods. Take a left through french doors into your living room, and stretch out on the large sectional sofa and enjoy a program on the big screen cable TV. Order take out and sit down at your 4 person dining table. We have installed a new washer and dryer and kitchenette in this suite. The kitchenette has Keurig coffee service, a small countertop air fryer/oven, microwave, mini-fridge and electric griddle (great to make pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches). Note: There is no stove in the suite. Big cooking is done outside on a good quality gas BBQ grill with side burner; it is for the exclusive use of our guests, and is directly outside your suite, on an alfresco patio with picnic table. The bedroom has a roomy closet and a king bed. There is a queen size Murphy bed (wall bed) in the main living room. It can be pulled down as needed. It has a comfortable 10 inch foam mattress with topper. There are black out curtains for the comfort of those sleeping in the living room. All bed linens are 300 thread count Egyptian cotton. The newly renovated three piece bathroom has a lovely tiled shower. We have lots of complimentary toiletries to use, if you forget something. Directly outside the sunroom, just steps away, is a large in-ground pool to enjoy from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. The pool is gated for the safety of small children. If you want to take a snooze or read a book and listen to the birds, there is a hammock nestled between two shade trees on the side of the house. There are two simple swings for the kids. We also have lawn games for the family to enjoy: soccer balls, a croquet set, Frisbee and boccie ball.
Enjoy classic Connecticut country living. We have a gorgeous yard, with three acres of nature, trees and privacy. There are a number of excellent walking and biking trails in Monroe. Good restaurants. The town park has wonderful amenities. However, our back yard is probably all you will need for your stay: hammock, pool, lawn games and guest BBQ. Come and relax!

***PLEASE NOTE*** THE POOL AND HOT TUB ARE CLOSED FOR THE WINTER AND WILL REOPEN JUNE WK 2. Trumford Guest House is a charming and private cottage with a country/mid-century vibe on a half acre lot in the historic and quiet hamlet of Nichols in the town of Trumbull, CT. Every detail has been thought out in this small, but well furnished and surprisingly spacious 350 sq. ft cottage.
The house is just far enough away from the main house and is very private. We designed and architected this house ourselves, and it took over a few years to design and build. The overall concept of the design started with the red metal fireplace that is in the center of the space. The house was basically built around it. We were obsessed with having plenty of natural light and we got it! There is natural light even in the shower and WC! Instead of buying new, we chose to use (and restore) windows and doors that we have collected through the years from demolitions. No need to fill up more landfills! The eyebrow windows are especially unique and are antique. Atop the cupola on the roof is a nod to our dear departed West Highland Terrier: "Jed" who loved this space in the yard. A hand hammered copper weathervane with 24 carat gold collar, engraved "Jed". Even though you can't really see it, It is one of the many design details built into the house. At night, there is every electric light imaginable: overhead, task, mood, etc. The porch is either lighted by carriage lights, or by down lights. The queen size bed is extremely comfortable, with a pillow top mattress and 464 thread count sheets. Both down and poly pillows are provided. A large flatscreen TV with cable lives next to the bed, but swivels for viewing from any part of the studio. Original fine art, vintage art, and vintage objects are used throughout. Adjacent to the living space is a kitchenette with microwave, full size dishwasher, mini fridge and sink (which is part of an antique hotel kitchenette). A large kitchen counter serves as either an eating area, or work space. For coffee or tea, a Keurig machine, and hot pot are available, and we have provided a selection of teas and coffee complimentary. The bathroom is very large, and was designed as an amalgamation of all of the many hotels we have enjoyed through the years. We love honed marble and subway tile and used neutral colors to offset all of the other brighter accent colors of the interior. There is no shower door- which adds to the illusion of more space- and don't worry, the shower is huge, and with a bench, so you won't be splashing water all over the place. Water cascades from the ceiling from a rainfall shower head, or a conventional hand held shower head with massage functions. The toilet is located in a separate room for additional privacy.
The neighborhood of Nichols is on the historic register and located on the land that was once Nichols farms- one of the earliest farms in the United States. Most of the houses on the main street that lead to our house are from the early to mid 1800's. There is also one from the late 1600's, and many in the neighborhood from the 1700's. We fell in love with the neighborhood when our real estate agent took us down this street. There is a community center, library and churches in our little "square" which is actually a triangle. On Thursdays during the summer there is a small Farmer's Market with food trucks and other local goods, and is walking distance from the house. This area has not changed much in the past few hundred years. Wildlife does strolls through and around our neighborhood: Wild turkeys, deer, bunnies, all sorts of beautiful birds, owls...and always squirrels and chipmunks. Very occasionally there is a bear...we get alerts from the town when this happens and will alert you. Our house was built in 1930. So, it's "new". We bought the property for the size of the land as we always wanted a pool and guest house. This area used to be a huge grassy area and is where we got married. If you enjoy early American architecture and the bucolic Connecticut landscape, you will love this neighborhood! If you are lucky, you will even see an antique Good Humor Ice Cream truck and still sells ice cream on the street.

The space seeks to meld technology and comfort. From Alexa-controlled gadgets to over-sized pillows, the environment is perfect for the out of town commuter to a student on an interview.
Downtown New Haven is the neighborhood located in the heart of the city of New Haven, Connecticut. It is made up of the original nine squares laid out in 1638 to form New Haven, including the New Haven Green, and the immediate surrounding central business district, as well as a significant portion of the Yale University campus. The area includes many restaurants, cafes, theaters and stores. The area bounded by Chapel and Crown Streets is a popular stretch of restaurants, boutiques and bars located across from the Old Campus of Yale University. Includes such historic establishments as Union League Cafe and the c. 1934 Owl Shop cigar lounge. The Anchor Bar, notable for its Art Moderne style and popularity with playwright Thornton Wilder, operated on College Street from the 1940s until 2015. The area is largely coterminous with the Chapel Street Historic District. Notable buildings include the Hotel Taft and the Chapel Square Mall. The Yale University Art Gallery and Yale Center for British Art are also located here.
