Things to do and see in and around Cassis
Cassis and things to see and do
The Calanques national park features Provençal fjords - also known as Calanques. With crystal clear aquamarine water framed by white limestone cliffs and the deep blue of the Mediterranean sea, secret beaches await discovery.
Catch a boat from Cassis to tour 3, 5 or 8 of the Calanques from the sea.
With nearly 20km of marked trails there are many beautiful walks and hikes to beaches and coves, where it is fun to picnic, swim and sunbathe.
A renowned scuba diving spot with Roman wrecks and preserved flora and fauna is only a half hour boat trip out to sea.
The Calanques are a world famous rock-climbing site, guides can be hired for the day to access some of the incredible and visually stunning climbs.
Cassis produces a famous white wine the result of a long tradition since 600 BC. Various Chateaux welcome wine lovers and offer free tasting.
Fun day trips are close at hand to Marseille, an ancient Phoenician port, or Aix-en-Provence where music and dance festivals take place.
The Tourist office, located in the building you can see across the port with the flagpoles, has all the information you may require on day trips and activities in the area. Web: www.ot-cassis.com

Markets
Cassis has a weekly market on Wednesday and Friday mornings in Place Baragnon, the main village square which is well worth visiting.
There is also a small organic market in the same location on Saturday mornings.
There are two small supermarkets close to the port, Casino and SPAR; and another bigger supermarket SuperU which is about 10 minutes walk from the apartment.
