Brief History & information about Wentworth Falls, NSW

Wentworth Falls is a town in New South Wales’ Blue Mountains region, just 1.5 hours from Sydney by car, and 10 minutes out of Katoomba. It is easily accessible via City-rail train system (Blue Mountains Line: https://transportnsw.info/routes/details/intercity-trains/bmt/02BMT). Nestled in the Blue Mountains, this beautiful historic town overlooks the breathtaking Jamison Valley, and is close to some of the most stunning walking tracks, waterfalls, scenic lookouts, and picnic grounds that Australia has to offer. The triple-tiered Wentworth Falls themselves are an absolute must-see for anyone looking to experience the natural grandeur of the Blue Mountains. There are multiple walks that access the falls, suitable for beginner and intermediate bushwalkers.  Despite the town’s secluded position in the mountains, Wentworth Falls hosts several exciting festivals and events, including the Wentworth Falls Autumn Festival (involving garden walks, floral displays, and historic tours). Wentworth Falls has a very rich history to explore, which is visible in the Victorian buildings dotted around the town. In the south-east of Wentworth Falls there is an area of great archaeological significance referred to as Kings Tableland (where our house is situated), which contains an important aboriginal site: a meeting place that was used for over 22 000 years, sacred to the Gandangara, Darug, and Wiradjuri people.
