Great local independent Spanish tapas restaurant, for lunch or dinner. Buzzing place, in the Lanes in the centre of Brighton. You’ll definitely need to book ahead and it’s pretty rustic inside, but the food is great. Can get quite noisy at weekends, but it’s fun.

Excellent 'modern' Indian. It's won all sorts of national awards, and was on Tom Kerridge’s “Great British Takeaway” series on BBC2. Been voted best Indian in the country multiple times – can takeaway or great to eat-in too. I’d recommend booking ahead.

Entertainment & Activities

Greyhound racing! Fun if you fancy a gamble. Very gritty/rundown/rough-and-ready (unless they’ve refurbed it, I haven’t been for a few years). A bit like a timewarp back to the 80s/90s. Happily the prices are still stuck in the 80s/90s too. They do racing on Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes I believe.
