Kylie Kwong is one of Sydney's best and most loved Asian chefs. Sit at the counter if you can as the staff are warm and you'll get to watch the magic happen. Make sure you order the duck with orange. And the beans! Oh, and the dumplings! And the fish is always great...

It's the best Greek restaurant in Sydney. Mmm, lamb. Don't be put off if you have to wait - it's worth it.

A great local cafe. Fantastic for breakfast - scrambled eggs are a specialty. Excellent coffee. Rain or shine, hot or cold, you can sit outside and watch the world pass you by. And then when your meal's over you can stroll down Challis Avenue and into the city.

Bronwyn is a honey and her cafe is excellent. There'll always be some characters hanging around the bench (it's like the bar in Cheers!). Great toasties and excellent coffee.

You can't come to Sydney without stopping for a "dirty meat pie" at Harry's. The world's A-list celebrities have all been here so you should too.

Monopole
20 Curtin PlaceBrilliant food, extensive wine list, great service.
Go here for the cocktails - they're brilliant. Butler also has solid French-Australian wine list. The menu is fairly simple quasi-French fare. Steak frites and the like. It's noisy and most nights is full of fashionable, good looking locals out having fun.

Everything Else
Wayside is a not-for-profit that provides services and food to the homeless and under-privileged people of Kings Cross. They have a service on Sunday mornings which can hardly be described as religious. Always moving, often funny. The cafe sells excellent quality food at a fraction of the cost you would pay elsewhere. The philosophy is to provide dignity and break down the us and them.

Parks & Nature
This beautiful harbourside park that tends to fall off the radar of most tourists. Take a picnic, some wine a blanket and a book and while away an afternoon.

If you're in Sydney for NYE, this is a great vantage point to watch the fireworks. Like all Sydney harbourside parks though, it's alcohol-free so leave the bubbly at home. On any other day, it's a gorgeous park that few tourists know about.
