Sightseeing
Follow the twisty mountain road for spectacular views and a haunting and memorable experience of an ancient, beautiful and decidedly spooky cave with a terrible history. The cave is full of stalactites, high above your head...but there is also a small alter. Over 350 Greeks (324 women and children) were suffocated by smoke by the Turks who blocked the entrance to the cave and started a fire in 1824. There is a really sad and eerie feel to the place which is well worth a short detour. A truly poignant experience
