A couple of parks and wonderful Irish Hills hiking:
•To go to Neighborhood Park, 3 houses down (on same side of street) are a cut-thru walkway/neighborhood to DeVaul Ranch Park (marked “P” on map. Good playground, etc.
•See triangles on map – there are 3 nearby trailheads for hilly hikes into the Irish Hills. Extensive trail network; great views.

Things to do in the ‘hood’ (SLO)
We left you our weekend periodical called “The Ticket.” It outlines all events going on the weekend of your visit. There is a city map, hiking trails, and local wineries in the binder as well.
Our favorite restaurants in downtown SLO are:
Novo’s Higuera St – very nice outdoor seating; eclectic menu.
Giuseppe’s Monterey St – very nice Italian
Buono Travolo Wonderful Italian on Monterey St
Habitat Burger Higuera St – upscale burger place.
Big Sky Broad St. – eclectic menu
Batch for the best ice cream sandwiches (on Broad St)
Luna Red on Chorro, next to the Mission – a Tapas restaurant
The Thursday Night Farmer’s Market is a must see. The city closes Higuera Street at 6pm. You can buy vegetables, eat a variety of fares, and can take in music, puppet shows, the balloon guy, and much more. Many shops stay open as well.
Things to do around SLO and the County:
The Mission on Chorro- one of the California Missions is right in downtown
Avila Beach-great little beach enjoyed by all, including our dog.
Madonna Inn-Just down the road and don’t miss the men’s urinal.
Montana de Oro State Park – on the Pacific coast just south of Los Osos – great walking/hiking park.
Hearst Castle – about hour’s drive up the coast. Very interesting and scenic, if you have not been before a must see.
Elephant seals – at roadside beach about 15 minutes further north from Hearst Castle / San Simeon.
Parking/Transportation:
There is street parking available in front of our home only. DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF any of the neighbor’s homes. All transportation is on foot, bike, or car. There is public transportation via bus on Los Osos Valley Rd. Parking downtown from 9-6 is very expensive if you use the meters. There are three parking structures that offer the first 60 minutes free. There are two structures on Palm and one on Marsh (maps included). Downtown is two miles away.
All other activities are listed in the binder and “Ticket” entertainment guide.
