Favorite Restaurants
There are a lot of great places to eat on island. These ones top the list for us foodies.
O.M.G. Everything is good! Sweeping views of the West Maui Mountains, located on the Maui Tropical Plantation. The decor and cuisine are artful in ever way. Farm to table cuisine with unique preparations, and craft cocktails. A bit spendy, but try it out for happy hour (3-5) if you want to get a taste but not commit to the full experience. Highly recommend reservations, but not necessary. Chickpea cake appetizer, and Despina de la Rosa cocktail are a must try.

This place is special for us. We are obsessed :). Great Indian food, and the ocean view is even better. We recommend asking for a beach front table at sunset (one of the best locations to see sunset- Kihei). Our favorite order: Saag Paneer, Lamb Kabobs, Garlic & Cheese Naan.

Nearby Beaches
While there are hundreds of beautiful beaches to explore on Maui (mostly in Kihei & Lahaina areas), these are the closest to our property, and not overpopulated with tourists.
This is our FAVORITE area to frequent. Located next to the Waihee Municipal Golf Course, this hidden gem feels like your own private beach. There is a natural stream that runs from the mountains into the ocean & lots of ocean treasures to explore. The picnic benches there were donated by us, as we love this place so much, and some of the palms were planted by Sean. To access, there is a dirt road to the left, off of the road to golf course. If you keep going to golf course, there is another beach park there, which is also beautiful, but slightly less secluded. At the golf course beach park, there are also large grassy areas, bathrooms, picnic tables, etc.

If you are looking to walk to a beach, just continue down the hill, across Waiehu Beach Rd, onto Lower Waiehu Beach Rd. There are several beach access points about 1/4 -1/2 mile away from our home. There is surf here a lot of the time, but I wouldn't recommend this beach for swimming or beginner surfers. This is a nice beach to walk and search for treasures, but the sand can be a bit rocky.

5-10 minute drive from us (depending on traffic). Also known as "Kite Beach," and world famous for kite surfing. This is a large beach park with plenty of parking, bathrooms, pavilions, picnic tables, nice sand, & clear water. It also sits adjacent to a wildlife sanctuary pond. When driving there, you might feel like you are going the wrong way, as the beach road feels totally random and deserted. There are several parking lots along the way- the main beach parking area is farther out and you will see a sign.

Beautiful beach near Paia. 10-15 min drive. We highly recommend this beach if you are looking for calmer water to swim in, or bring your kids to. Hawaiian sea turtles are frequently spotted here. As they are an endangered species, it is important to remember to keep a safe distance from them (you could also get fined for getting too close).

Nearby Hikes & Nature
Our area is well known for it's incredible hiking trails. Here are a couple less treacherous hikes we recommend for all skill levels, that are really close by.
The most sacred place on Maui. Come here to learn about the Hawaiian history of Iao Valley, take a short hike to view the famous Iao "needle," or a longer hike into the valley. You can take a dip in the stream, picnic in the picnic area boasting pavilions and several little structures and gardens created to resemble the styles of various cultures of the early settlers here. This is a very special place! If you do not have a Hawaiian ID, there is a $5/car fee to park. You do not need to dedicate a whole day here, but we highly suggest not missing it. Schedule an hour one morning to check it out before continuing on with your day. :)

While not particularly difficult, this hike is a heart pumper, as is it is all uphill. Enjoy beautiful sweeping views of Iao Valley and the West Maui Mountains on one side, and the ocean on the other. Wear sneakers, and pack a snack for the rest area at the top. We recommend getting an early start on this hike, before it gets too hot. Allow 2-3 hours for the hike, and avoid on muddy/ rainy days, as it can get slippery and dangerous. Rental cars have been known to be targeted for break-ins in parking lots like this one, where locals know the tourists will be gone for a little while. We suggest not leaving anything of value in the car.
