The Pier Village area at the south end of the island offers many tourist attractions such as the lighthouse, mini-golf, and a public swimming pool with a splash pad. There are also numerous shops and a long fishing pier.

Golf: Sea Palms and King & Prince are open to the public. Jekyll Island (about a 25 minute drive) also has several public golf courses.

Jekyll Island: Just one island south of SSI, Jekyll has golf, beaches (check out Driftwood beach), mini-golf, a sea turtle center, historic areas, and biking paths. Less congested, but fewer amenities. There is an $8 toll to gain entrance to the island.

Gascoigne Park offers a fishing pier with a lot less congestion. There is a nearby marina where you can buy live bait. The park also has a frisbee golf course (there are a few frisbee golf sets in the garage).

There are some local fishermen who provide fishing trips and coastal boating tours. Try calling Morningstar Marina (located just as you drive onto the island along the causeway) and ask about Capt. Fendig, dolphin tours, or the String of Pearls options.
