Nature
Cowichan is located in Canada's only maritime Mediterranean climatic zone and is home to the warmest year–round temperatures in the country. For decades now, Cowichan has been producing amazing artisanal food and drink from the region's burgeoning farms, wineries, cideries and distilleries. It is also home to some beautiful provincial parks with stunning hikes, rivers and mountains.
I have spent 18 years hiking these riverside trails and its more beautiful each time. With old growth trees, and winding forest paths over the trestle and alongside Holt Creek and the Cowichan River. There are many options of loops from easy to moderate hiking.

Mt. Tzu is loved by hikers and bikers.
Very well known for its world class Mountain Bike Trails which are well maintained with everything from cross country, technical climbing, flowy downhills with berms, jumps and drops.
My husband offers 2.5 hour mountain bike tours of Mt. Tzu for $120 including transportation to and from the mountain.
The hike to the cross on Mount Tzouhalem provides and incredible view of the Cowichan Valley, spanning from Cowichan Bay to west, across the valley to the town of Duncan. The route offers a great workout and is an enjoyable, uphill hike through the forest before being rewarded with one of the best views from the area.
There is also the ecological wild flower reserve and conservation area.
It is a 18/20 minute drive from our Micro Cabin.

Sweet little corner store in the country. Surrounded by vineyards, this is our go to place to fill up our gas tank. Grab a delicious piece of pizza or bar. Our kids love to bike here on Saturdays to get a 'treat'. Its a 20ish minute walk from our house. There is also a lovely collection of handmade items made at the Weavery next door.

Glenora Farm
Glenora Farm is a residential community for adults with special needs and their caregivers.
It is their endeavour to create an environment in which those who are in need of special care, and those who provide it, can relate to each other as companions, rather than as professionals and clients.
In the way we live together, in the way we care for the land and in the things we make, we intend to uphold the ideals of Camphill, in which each contributes what he or she is able to, and receives in turn what he or she needs. https://glenorafarm.org/
