Food scene
In terms of eating out, there are very many restaurants in Canterbury and some of the better ones are near the house - most need booking.
I hope you have fun trying some of these and please do let us know if you have any favourites or make any new finds!
Local produce, modern English cooking. The Goodshed has frequently been featured in the national papers with glowing reviews and we think it's the best place in town for dinner. Pick-your-own-breakfast. Fantastic wine selection too. Booking a must
The wild Goose is fantastic for casual tapas Brit-style and easily the best cocktails in town made with their own infused spirits. Their brunch is the best! Open late. no booking needed
Gill's is a perfect spot for the best coffee and cake (home made Pastel de Nata are knockout) or a spot of rustic lunch made with fresh ingredients from the Goodshed market - run by two close friends, Christian & Simon & with a fab friendly vibe - not to be missed. Open early Tues to Sunday for breakfast & lunch. No booking needed
There's free parking on site which is a real plus!

Super close to the house and one of the very best restaurants in Canterbury for light and classy, modern English cooking. A great place for dining with friends and for celebrations. You'll need to book. Five mins walk from the house. They also do a great breakfast I hear!

The very closest restaurant to the house - and possibly the best! Run by a lovely young Italian couple. You can sit downstairs in the bar area for nibbles and a negroni, or wander upstairs for authentic but light Italian fare, beautifully presented. A little unprepossessing but tasty tasty food - we recommend the carpaccio of sea bass or the crostone di gorgonzola (v) to start - everything on the menu for main, but possibly the meat & fish are best - Crema di ricotta ‘ngravugliata for dessert....if you can squeeze it in :)

Great rib-sticking Greek food - lovely staff - try not to overorder! We usually have all starters like a mixed mezze but just can't resist the fried potatoes with feta, yum!

Pubs & Bars
The best pub garden in Canterbury! Peter's quirky 70's taste is evident everywhere you look from his collection of meccano to rows upon rows of bowler-hatted Fred (Mcdougall's flour-man, remember him?). The food is well-priced pub grub.
