NZ is muticultural. Our indigenous people are Maori.

Akaroa has a french flavour due to the early settlers being from France (we almost had a french NZ!) Please respect our Maori culture and Taonga by respectingl our land and people. If you are visiting Onuku Marae, please see the local Maori and see if you are able to visit. Please remove shoes before entering a Wharenui (meeting house). Our main languages are Te Reo and English.
